If your PDA explodes you lose your ID, that's the one downside to it. People rarely buy the Detomatix, though, there are better traitor items. To use your ID you need to be holding it in your active hand or your ID slot, that applies even if you put it in the PDA - you can keep the PDA in your ID slot, though.

You can also put your ID in your PDA slot. I found out the hard way during my first playthrough, since I had to change clothes and the PDA is equipped into the ID slot if there is nothing there. I believe the PDA explodes no matter where.

Also, keep in mind that losing the ID is only a problem if you are stuck alone in an area with ID locks, and/or the command is either nonexistent, unwilling or otherwise unable to make you a new ID.

Animals, Alium, Antags, carp, golems, borgs, theres lots of things you can get turned into. Flee from R&D if you choose monkey though ;)

R&D is not that much of a threat, but if you end up in Virology (even as a human), you are fucked. It is a dungeon.

Hmm, could anyone tell me what changes the latest version has from r27? I read some things that concern me on the forum of C2C, and I don't know whether to update or not.

That would work for some gamemodes, but others, particularly cult, behave badly with low numbers of players.

You say a station full of Space Cthulhu cultists is bad, I say it's hilarious.

Suggestion: since we can't start any round except traitor, perhaps shennigans such as the Atmosia Independence Declaration could be started with ahelped admin approval? It would add some flavor to the usual traitor/event mix.

Why do I suddenly have the urge to spawn in as Atmos Technician and declare independance for Atmosia.

Yyyyeah... this will end badly, I predict.

Active fishing is more like somethign to do as a pastime, really xD You'll starve to death more than you get fish.

My character started with a fishing skill of about 44% and I was able to feed myself pretty well by active fishing in a small lake with a javelin. Eventually I did go out hunting and got myself a bear (also with javelins) and later traded for some nets.

I think that using a javelin instead of a club is good advice: They're both readily accessable for starting characters, but I'd swear that the javelin is far more effective.  And I've noticed that 40% is more-or-less the cutoff for reliable fishing, but characters with less should skill up quick enough to survive, although they probably won't be able to do much other than fish and sleep until they get to 40%.

Javelin is more effective, it goes club < javelin < fishing rod, according to what I've read.

A thing I would really like to see be finished is the Warp gate thing. Looks and sounds pretty awesome.

I think it IS finished, actually. Baystation 12 used to do away missions through it. So it's just a matter of them not being set up.

Anger quarantine warning.

If you don't want to get the thread locked, don't post things that are obviously inflammatory. If you are trying to get someone banned, you will spark a conflict. END OF THE CONFLICT ANGLE OF THE THREAD.

Yeah, it's pretty much just something to do if you want to kill time and maybe get something out of it.

Not if you have fishing (cooking may be a factor too) on a decent level. I am staying at well-fed with the fish I get out of the lake next to my home (well, WIP home).

Okay Scrdest is being a huge griefer at this point. It's getting old.

Ouch, harboring personal vendettas OOC. Not cool. In both cases, you were the person who willingly put yourself at harm by attempting to get me arrested, and acted sore when I resisted.

First round, I was a scientist, wanted to try Plasma research, but due to power issues I couldn't work. For shits and giggles, I admit, I broke into Brig, but HoS, that being Hanslanda, spotted me, so I fortified myself in Armory and eventually got killed due to AI sucking the air out (that said, is AI supposed to do things like that?).

Second round, I've been a Virologist. I wanted to research and engineer some beneficial viruses, but I needed some reagents I couldn't get due to there being no Chemists. I asked HoP for access, but since due to a stupid misclick I've created a flu epidemic (I clicked on the floor next to the P.A.N.D.E.M.I.C. instead of the machine itself, and the tile was uncleanable.), he refused to give me access until I cured it. I made a bit overly elaborate plan to get to Chemistry, that being stealing a Scientist's PDA cartridge for Signaller and mounting a RSD on the Chemistry door.

Due to a stupid, stupid mistake I opened a Maintenance door to Operating Theatre IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OPERATION (xD), with RD/acting CMO spotting me, but I locked the door and ran away. I tried to create a distraction by shorting out Medbay APC, but shortly afterwards, Engineering bot, that being Hanslanda again, found me. I tried to scare him off by attacking with a screwdriver, and he did eventually run, but later on he brought the HoP/acting Captain into the Maintenance tunnel.

I, attempting to evade them, hid in a grey wardrobe. That would work, but the HoP got a hunch to check the wardrobe. I stungloved him, and we had a fight that should have really had Yakkety Sax in the background. They decided to seal me off by making a wall. After a while, I tried to get away by breaking the interior window and the grille and getting past the wall that way, but it turned out somehow, there was a breach to the Mixing room vacuum thingy and the HoP and the bot, and soon me, died.

For the record, I did not intend to harm anyone except of HoS in the first round, for wanting to execute me for 'treason', and breaking out the harm laser, and the HoP and the bot in the second, and only to the extent that would let me escape (I had cables on me, so I could have just cable-restrained him and disactivated the bot once he was cuffed). Furthermore, there were no harsh feelings between me and the person who played HoP, only Hanslanda's apparent personal grudge.

Do the mages have like, activated spells or do they just have "magical" attacks?

The necromancer campaign alone is enough for me to give this game a whirl; thanks.

Not merely campaign, they are a playable faction with some interesting features. For example, tier 3 Necromancer (mage unit) and Zombie have an ability that, if a proper attack kills the enemy, raises the enemy as a zombie. Zombies are very cheap (if somewhat wimpy) to deploy. You can deploy a huge number of zombies. Zombies make more zombies. Do the math.

Also, the game is very moddable due to using LUA (IIRC), and I faintly recall ranged attacks added in one mod.

Suicide catapult is a viable strat at every stage, or at least through to early industrial which is the furthest I've gotten.  There seems to be a cheap siege that you can use for collateral damage everywhere although I think more accurate ones and range bombard may be better on hammers on long term.

Suicide? What do you mean, suicide? I've gotten away with hardly any casualties. Although this may be because I used my Riflemen/Redcoats/Jaegers/Wotsername african special unit to take out cavalry.

I've been playing wesnoth a bit lately, given I've had periods of lots of free time but access only to an old EEE 900 netbook. Singleplayer only though, I don't feel like I'd be good enough for multiplayer. I struggle even against the computer.

That's a bit of an odd assumption: computers don't make stupid mistakes, do get unfair bonuses (Civilization, I am looking at you!)...

I just love playing chemist. The thrill of running from the chem lab to the tiny medbay in the mining station while you have nearly no acces and have to go trough maintenance shafts because the fire alarms went off and there are vines in the hallways, so you give some drugs to a security guy so he lets you trough, then you rush to the medbay where 3 guys are peforming CPR on the captain, you make him swallow a single pill and he gets back up. Chemist ftw!

Yeah, chemist is quite fun. If we had miners more often, the access problem could be remedied with making some EMP though. Also, try to experiment with reagents not present in the lab, such as Holy Water. I think Goon at least can make Holy Water out of Water, Wine and Mercury, and Holy Water can be mixed to produce a reviving mixture.

The other awesome job is Xenobiologist, you have to actually make effort to breed the right kind of slimes, clean up the pens of dead monkeys to get more monkey cubes, and so on, and you can then reap the rewards, such as turning your target into a baby slime and throwing him into the processor.
