Call it Reddit or not (which I think is kinda dumb, doesn't Reddit actually defend the diversity?), but it's there.

All I'll say is, it's very fashionable among a large section of gamers to throw a huge tantrum whenever any kind of minority shows up anywhere. Attempts at justification usually read as thin skinned "No it's REALLY IMPORTANT that this fictional game doesn't have any women or black people or gays" post-hoc rationalization.

I'll concede that in the case of The Witcher it might not have been well thought out, but especially before release it seemed like people were really grasping at straws to shit on the non-white actresses. I appreciate the context, but Lord knows I'm still probably never going to watch this show again. Might check out the books though, with the new context in mind.

Is this the first game with HTML5? Either way I'm glad Kaz finally moved on from flash. I had to download the sneaking game and play it in an offline Flash player, because it wouldn't load in any browser I tried.

Didn't we already have a worldbuilding thread that nobody participated in?

For Christmas, Santa decided to give me a weird ass anxiety nightmare.

I was either playing a Christmas-themed hidden object game, or literally was the protagonist. I would solve one puzzle, but then it gave me two more puzzle solutions. So I'd go solve another puzzle, and that one would give me five more keys. By the time I finally gave up and stayed awake I had dozens and dozens of items, and was moving so fast between puzzles and hidden object scenes that I was physically exhausted IRL.

So the masks are to keep their hollow skulls and facehole from making a noise when they run?

No, that's just how I interpreted what I was seeing. The dark hollowed-out part looked like fabric, and the raised edge of the wound looked like some sort of metal border.

I could use something like that to keep my wife from stealing all the blankets in the night.

Hey, I loved KOTOR 2, but my understanding is that it didn't sell well and not a lot of people remember it.

I thought Rey and Kylo's thing was a reference to Kreia and Exile's relationship in KOTOR 2, but I suppose in hindsight that's giving this movie far, far too much credit, even if it were a good movie to begin with. They failed to fill even the tiniest of plot holes, how would they be clever enough to reference a 15-year-old game that hardly anybody liked?

What was Finn gonna say to Rey?  I have heard JJ Abrams said he was gonna say he was force sensitive, and he obviously is in this movie, but I don't buy that cause why would he be cagey about that?

Hell, I thought he was Force sensitive at the end of TFA, given he takes Rey's lightsaber and does a bunch of Jedi shit for the finale. Nope, just one of many dropped threads.

All I can think of is the Bob's Burgers episode where Tina has to do a book report and Linda helps her BS the whole thing.

Who's that calling? It's the Wild!

Saw the trailer for Call of the Wild in cinema. Don't give a damn about the movie, but the trailer saddened me.

I don't hate CG, I never did. It's an artistic tool that can be used or abused, like shakycam or monochrome.

But come on, you couldn't get a fucking dog for your movie? You had to add that in post? Disney, in all their omnipotence, the indestructible capitalist juggernaut that will probably outlive all of us, couldn't shell out for a goddamn golden retriever.

To play devil's advocate, I didn't find it any dumber than say, your most hated prequel film. This trilogy's just bad for different reasons.

About IX specifically, Rey being Palpatine's granddaughter is a bigger ass pull than even Palpy himself. It's "btw Dumbledore's gay" but for Star Wars.

However dumb the prequels were, they had an internal logic where you could draw lines from a character's prequel appearance to where they are when A New Hope starts. Prequel-exclusive characters either die off or are unimportant to the OT story, and the majority of OT characters have plausible reasons for their role in the prequels.

How is it even remotely possible to guess that Palps started a family? We see him in the prequels as a politician who never leaves Coruscant, doing evil Sith things in various spinoffs, or as the Emperor. Somewhere in the middle of all that, he found a nice non-evil wife to start a family with? Then his son fucks off and starts his own family outside of Palps' purview??

For what it's worth, I fucking loved Rogue One and Solo. So just like it was with the prequels and the years following ROTS, all the good shit's gonna be in spinoffs and other low-profile stuff.

Don't ask questions. Just consume product and then get excited for next product.

Oh give me a break. Star Wars has always been a money-grubbing merch-driven commercial juggernaut. The only difference is that Marvel's made film-a-year cinematic universes not only a thing, but an expectation for anything even remotely popular.

Is that why clicking a post in my post history doesn't actually take me to it? I'd been wondering about that.

As somebody with no history with the Witcher franchise, I was kinda dumbstruck that this is what everybody's been talking about. It's so comically edgy that I could neither take it seriously nor finish the first episode. I'm willing to concede that maybe the series isn't doing the greater story justice, but the ~25 minutes I saw struck me like Game of Thrones fanfiction. You have fantasy racism, gravelly-voiced protagonist dressed in black, blood and guts, lots of tiddies and a rape backstory all in the first half of the first episode. That's not a grim, gritty fantasy world, that's a F.A.T.A.L campaign.

The conspiracy theories about diversity quotas and le essjaydubyas are funny, though. It's like I never left Reddit.

I first played Morrowind on Xbox, sitting well over arm's length away from a small CRT. Because of this, I always thought that Ash Ghouls and Ash Zombies were wearing weird masks or blindfolds; Dagoth Ur wears a mask, and a handful of major items are masks, so I didn't think any further about it.

Come to find out, they're actually missing part of their face.

OH MY GOD IT'S SO GROSS PLEASE MAKE IT STOP.
