Kojima's works really work best from the pretentious asshole point of view~

If we want games to be treated like art then that means treating them like art, and sometimes that means that games will try to be more than what you literally see on screen and do with the controller. Saying it's "pretentious" any time any creator asks you to think laterally is just a flavor of anti-intellectualism, but one that fits nicely within acceptable, mainstream rational intellectualism where everything can be explained by observable, reproducable cause-and-effect, and if it can't then it's worthless.

Oops. I mean, haha, what was that wacky thing with the AI all about? I'm sure MGS4 will explain it all.

After playing through MGS3, I went back and played MGS2, seriously paying attention to it for the first time since... well, the first time I played it.

I hate to say this because it makes me sound like such a pretentious asshole, but MGS2 really benefits from being looked at critically. I was barely a teenager when I first played it; it stands up a lot better after almost a decade of learning how to read stories as more than just entertainment.

Lord forgive me, but I'm back on my shit

Nobody else may ever understand my love for obscure European metal subgenres, but I don't care. My personal soundtrack is somewhere between a Power Rangers soundtrack and the world's longest D&D campaign.

I finally finished Adventure Time! It's one of the best damn cartoons I've ever watched; I don't think there was a single episode that I didn't like. It reminded me of being a kid and making up my own story for my action figures and LEGO people. It portrays the heaviness and tragedy of growing up in perhaps the most tasteful, least heavy-handed way I've ever seen.

The finale was awesome, but unfortunately I'm left with a lot of mixed feelings. I feel like a few characters didn't really get their day in the sun, and the entire last season is basically an aside to the rest of the show. I loved the finale, but everything leading up to it was kinda "meh."

I don't find fun in anything. Doing anything other than lay in bed and feel sad is a chore.

Are there any roguelikes with a grid-based first-person perspective ala Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, etc.? I know there's Dungeon Hack, but I was wondering if there were any others?

I want to somehow be involved in a major political scandal at the Watergate Hotel (now the Watergate Complex).

It would be a number of smaller scandals, all related to the original Watergate scandal in some way, and all related to eachother. That way, instead of simply calling it "Watergate" or even "Watergategate," media outlets will be forced to add an additional -gate for each successive discovery.

"Hey, did you hear the news about Watergategategategategategate?"
"Nah, I stopped paying attention after Watergategategategate."

It's a madman's dream, but maybe after reporting on Watergategategategategategategategategategategate, people will finally come up with another name for controversies instead of adding "-gate" to anything that gets reported on for more than a few minutes.

Failing that, I could be an informant like Deepthroat. Except my alias would be taken from more contemporary, popularly-known pornos.

There's sacks of de-icing chemicals outside of some of the hospital buildings. They have Road Runner, as in from Looney Tunes, on them.

Sick... brand... deal...?

Ugh, I can't force myself to do anything productive. When I think about coding, writing, drawing or playing guitar, I just get this tired feeling in my bones.

Got a whiskey serving set for Christmas, and I can't use it because of the painkillers I'm on. The honey and snack peanuts I can take or leave, but it has a giant spherical ice mold that looks really fun.

An extra treatment has been added on last minute, 15 days of radiation in a row. I celebrate Christmas tomorrow, then straight to the hospital next week.

It's painful to lay down flat, so actually getting the therapy will be... Interesting. They gave me a morphine shot for the CT scan and I only barely made it; the actual treatments will require me to lie flat for twice as long.

I acquired a 3000+ gold bounty by killing the Manic residents of Split. I didn't realize that this had incurred a bounty until over an hour later, after lighting the flame of Agnon.

Feeling confident, I tried to resist arrest.

It's one thing to shoot a staff at Golden Saints from high ground where they can't path to you; it's another thing to get cornered by five of them at once.

TESIV: Oblivion.
