... it's good that you recognize you're part of the problem, though, iti. I'm guessing you A or B?

I stop for a fraction of a second because they're in my way and I can't walk through them :P although sometimes I feel like pushing them down. I swear, some of them literally have that slack-jawed "dhuurrrr" face when they do it.

In the hallway, you go around the corner while somebody is going around from the opposite direction. They're irritable and obviously in a hurry. Do you:

a) Stop in your tracks?
b) Stop and stare vacantly at them?
c) Stop, stare vacantly and start texting?
d) Start making out with your boy/girlfriend, thus taking up twice the hall space?

-or-

e) Quickly get out of the way and continue on your path?

Guess which one 100% of students at my school don't pick.

prepare to break the bank :P

I mistyped, the cord would need a 3.5mm female on one end and two female RCA on the other end. Thanks for pointing me at this website though, I'm sure I'll find what I need here :D

Life Advice / Composite output to computer speakers?
« on: February 05, 2013, 07:51:51 pm »
I recently got a cheapo CRT TV for my room from the local junk shop, but I didn't notice that it only had mono sound input until I had already brought it home. I don't really want to risk exchanging it with one that might not work, so I figured I'd ask you guys:

Is there a way to use computer speakers with composite output cables, like those the Nintendo 64 uses? The speakers only have a 3.5mm connector, like a headphone plug. Before I go looking for myself and end up buying something super expensive, is there a cost-effective way to use said speakers with said composite cables to get stereo sound? I don't want a huge box that will take up a ton of space, although it would be cool if it were part of an AV switchbox.

I got about 20 similar emails from "Blizzrd" [sic] requesting that I stop selling my Diablo III account or I would face legal action. It's nothing to worry about, just block it with all the rest of the crap.

A Battletoads game that didn't have extremely cheap fake-difficulty parts like Turbo Tunnel from the original. The first stage and most of the second (NES version) instantly sold me on the game, but the Turbo Tunnel turned me off just as quick.

Whoever decided that spiders should make noise while walking needs to be smacked upside the head. I spent five minutes in a hole in the ground hearing them scuttle above me before I starved to death underground.

Let's see this time.... it was a flash game in black and white (though blood was red). You started the game by creating a character using a simple base template and adding things like a hat, glasses, suit and so on. The characters had no legs and Rayman style hands (floating, the hands were circles).

The game was a stage gun game. You'd go through an area being attacked by thugs and armed gunmen, picking up knives, bats and other weapons along the way, using the mouse to aim and swing weapons and flicking to throw them away when they ran out of ammunition. The story involved something about the city your in running out of pie and your quest for revenge against the mayor.

I believe it was called Mad... something.

I heard spiders scuttling around on top of my shack, so I created a one-block hole to punch the spiders through until day arrived. And then a creeper saw me jumping out of the hole and invited himself in. Kaboom.

Other Games / Re: Most random/content filled game ever?
« on: February 04, 2013, 08:17:14 pm »
Perfect Dark isn't terribly random, but it is jam-packed with content and unlockables. There's three ways to play through the main campaign: Straight single-player, cooperative (with an AI partner or multiplayer), and counter-operative (one player takes control of various enemies and tries to stop the other player). Each difficulty has it's own unlockables and objectives, with some levels being radically different depending on which difficulty you play.

There's a firing range in the hub world that unlocks even MORE stuff, namely classic guns from Goldeneye. I'm fairly sure there's some weapons that only exist as secrets in single-player, so you have to search those out before you can use them in the firing range. Some unlockables are even exclusive to the easier difficulties, which means you actually have a reason to go through missions on harder or easier settings.

All of this is stacked on a pretty extensive multiplayer system, including a handful of very complex and fun AI "simulants" (eg. the TurtleSim starts with 200% shields, the DarkSim is an aimbot, PeaceSim grabs guns to keep others from using them). It's not very random, but it's a ton of fun and full of crap to do.

Round 12/20 on Cabin Fever, and my entire team dies in about half a second. I have no idea what went wrong, but I managed to rack up 20 extra kills before I finally died as the last player.

Seriously? People still play CA? I thought it was too infested with hackers and forgotten long ago. And then one from B12 plays it.

It's not really infested, it's just a non-zero number (which is still very terrible). The guns are balanced about as well as a drunken sloth trying to juggle plates on a seesaw, but Fireteam and Quarantine are still pretty fun.

I always found grenades to be of limited use at best. I only give them to one-in-two or even one-in-three soldiers, just in case I need to clear a dangerous room. High explosives have a larger blast radius and do more damage anyway, until you get Alien grenades.

Never try to take on more than two Chryssies at a time, and even taking on two has shown to be pretty risky. I always try to get at least five guymanz with a clear LoS to a Chryssie, because you want that thing dead the turn it discovers you. I've found that sometimes they'll walk right up to one of your soldiers and then walk back to their cover without doing anything, but this is a rare occurrence and shouldn't be depended on.
