I left a three-tile-wide tunnel in to the heart of my fortress for trade wagons. It did not take long for a necromancer to show up. Did I mention that I completely forgot to build a military up till now?

After many trials and tribulations, I finally became a vampire so that I could subsequently become a necromancer. After becoming this undead lord of death I went out conquering other undead things and necromancers/beasts.

So I go to a random village to report my latest conquest, when suddenly the guy I was talking to says "DONT TALK TO ME" and half the village begins chasing me.

After a while, only the village Clerk was still on my tail, evidently as fast as I am. So I think, "no big deal, just a puny clerk" and stop to face him. I have, after all, slain legendary vampires with thousands of kills and other horrifying creatures.

He stabs me through the skull with a copper carving knife

Maybe he was a vampire too? :-\

Hell yeah keep him happy. Survivors from your old forts are always a nice addition to new ones. However, you might have to put in some extra work to keep him happy. A bedroom and some statues are in order, unless he just skips to killing dwarves. In which case he can admire the statues from his cell.

I think brain damaged dwarves are completely incapacitated for the rest of their lives. Not sure though, I haven't ever seen it.

Christ, X-wings must be really poorly built if somebody falling on one can cause them to blow up. :P
Maybe itisnotlogical's character was just really, really fat.

I think the x-wing was rather low on health. Collisions between falling units and vehicles do cause some small amount of damage, however miniscule.

In other news, I tried retrieving the sword with the magnet. However, I wasn't able to retrieve it in time to slay the green dragon sneaking up behind me.

A grenade propelled me off of the Bespin platforms, which typically spells death within several seconds.

What I did not expect was slamming in to the windshield of an X-wing, instantly destroying it. That explosion blasted me back up to the platforms, where I died of I've-been-in-two-fatal-explosions syndrome.

Create a copy of your world and check Legends. Or just check the Legends screen of your primary copy, if there are no active adventurers. It's a godsend for explaining weird occurences in adventure mode, like an entire family of kobolds missing their noses.

Fighting my way out of a kobold ambush, I'm shot through the heart. I charge the bowman and stab him in the heart right back. We bleed out on the same turn.

Most dwarves can not read
They simply like engravings
Because they look nice

Dwarf literature
A book about gruesome death
And pictures of cheese

Dear Urists McStoneworkers:

I needed you to build one tiny wall. A small 1x3 barrier. Surely, between the five of you and 200+ phyllite blocks, you could have closed yourselves inside the trade depot. Now look at you. You're all dead, and a good number of dwarves who aren't you are dead as well. Why? Because you were on break. On break, in the middle of a bloody !!NECROMANCER SIEGE!!.

Presiding over your funeral,
Urist McOverseer

DF Modding / Re: Dwarf fortress: Calculator Edition
« on: December 02, 2012, 03:30:44 pm »
To run DF you need, among other things, an Intel 386 compatible CPU. Or maybe a virtual machine emulating one. A calculator has either an ARM or something by Texas Instruments, so there is no way DF will run there. Even tablets have ARMs (and Linux) and can't run DF. The smallest thing that will work, albeit slowly, is an Atom or Brazos notebook.

Wasn't there a thread several weeks ago about somebody who got Dwarf Fortress running on their iWhatever?

Found a kobold cave. Killed 129 innocent kobold men, women and children before I accidentally lit myself on fire. Why aren't campfires in the (x) menu instead of (g)?
I killed approximately 150 kobolds in a cave once. Then, I got down into the caverns. There were hundreds of them. They all swarmed me, with dozens attacking me at a time. I cut many of them down, but I was inevitably knocked into an underground lake and drowned because all of the shore was blocked by kobolds.

The most I fought at the same time was eight, on the surface mound. Surprisingly, four of them were soldiers. They seemed to be the only ones though, as I axed my way with glee all the way down to the first cavern layer. There, I accidentally set a campfire, trapping myself between it and a tree. I tried to set the tree on fire to escape, but I just burned to death instead. Interestingly, the legends screen reports me as being mortally wounded by the last kobold to attack me.
