Go with Dirst's advice, let's see if the Youtube Nazgul actually sniff it out. For each sound an attribution? Ain't nobody got time for that, and on a video of DF I honestly don't care. Thank you for bothering at all with this and good luck!

It's my penance for pirating games and music as a kid :P AS for what I am actually going to do for now, unless someone has a better idea is start a forum post somewhere on these forums for my LP/series/whatever-it-ends-up-being and make a section devoted to attributions. I'll probably try to get that goin tomorrow, as well as post the next vid and see if YT gets upset again. No matter what, I want to make sure that people who watch the video and go "Oh, that music/sound/mod was cool" can find it.

The attribution info is already in the configuration files.  Maybe a future version could spit out a soundsense.log with attributions for everything that plays in a session.

As for what can actually happen, maybe an attribution dump on the download site that lets-players can link to?

That would really be awesome, I would even be tickled pink if it compiled an attribution list of all the sounds into one file, even if they aren't used. I could post something like that on a site (maybe something like github? or even a forum post here related to the video series if it becomes a thing) and then link to there.

as far as i know, the sound effects are either what zwei got at creative commons sites or fan recordings. My songs have an attribution clause, but i doubt it will piss off the youtube overlords, and i don't want to be the only douche whom you are forced to attribute. Attribute all of em to be magma safe, i suppose.

Hmmm, So I'm guessing a link to soundsense website wouldn't suffice as a proper attribution then. I certainly want to give credit where credit is due, but Going through and finding the necessary info for each individual sound and then attributing them in every video may prove to be a bit difficult. May have to think on this one a bit.

So if I wanted to attribute all of your music Poonyen, and I put something like this (Music: Simon Swerwer: https://soundcloud.com/simonswerwer ) in the description, would that cover any of your songs that would play from soundsense? Or would I need something like that for each individual song of yours? (And I understand that I would need more for other creators)

Also, thanks for making it so shlubs like myself can enjoy your music as well as share it. I just wish your songs came up a bit more often in soundsense :P

Shouldn't be a problem. There was a problem with hall of the mountain king a while ago, but i don't know if it is solved. You can remove it from the playlist if you are worried about it.

Cool. Thanks for the reply. I just uploaded the first video which is really just embark preparations, just to see how the quality of the audio/video came out once processed by YT, and it matched copyrighted content for "Rhpasody- The Village Of Dwarves". It's not a strike or anything, but isn't all the music in soundsense creative commons? The whole legality of it all is kind of daunting, and I don't want to do anything illegal or get my YT account banned.

Edit: I think that song may not actually be creative commons or what-not. I suppose I'll have to try to pull it out of soundsense.

So from what I can gather, it seems like I can post video to youtube with soundsense audio included. I'm not really sure if I need to attribute the authors of the music and sounds in a certain way. I'm planning on putting links to DF, LNP, and soundsense in the description of my videos after they are posted. Does anyone know if this is adequate?

I was afraid of this. Looks like I'll be micro-managing :(

DF Gameplay Questions / Managing Multiple Materials (Job orders)
« on: January 30, 2015, 09:37:09 pm »
For my setup, I have a few different mason's workshops, each with their own dedicated stockpile. One with orthoclase intended to make blocks for wall building, and a couple with rock-salt intended to make doors, chairs, tables, etc. What I would like to achieve is to be able to use the manager to order jobs: Create 30 rock blocks, 10 doors, 5 chairs, etc. It seems when i do this the orders will go to any old workshop without regard to material. I feel like I'm missing something very simple to achieve this. Any ideas? Also, I'm playing with DF starter pack (latest 40.24 pack)

DF General Discussion / Re: Dwarf Fortress 40_24 Starter Pack r1
« on: January 26, 2015, 11:44:02 am »
My game has been crashing a couple or few seasons in. I thought it may have been from me migrating everything from the .23 to the .24, so I re-downloaded the entire starter pack, started a new world and a new game. A few seasons into it again and it's crashing. I'm using soundsense and therapist, I let DFhack run though I haven't really used it for anything, phoebus tileset, no aquifers, no entomb pets, process priority high and seasonal autosave on. Other that this, I've left pretty much everything as the default settings. I'm really not sure if this is a vanilla bug, but I figured I'd start here. I poked around a bit looking for a crashlog. The closest thing I've found is the error log. If that or anything else on my end is needed please let me know. Also if this post belongs somewhere else, please point me in the right direction and I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks slink and lockyy for the quickfix :D
I was about to have to call it quits on DF for the night :P

Yeah, I can't replicate it, sorry :-(. I tried changing my screen to the same aspect ratio as yours but it still worked fine. Time for the bug tracker I guess.

Out of interest, does it happen when you disable graphics in the .init? I probably should've asked you to do that in the first place....

I hadn't tried that as I try to mess with as little of the .init stuff as possible. However, I ended up generating a new world for various reasons, and after embarking on a new site in this new world, it doesn't seem to happen any more! I've only been playing for about and hour, but will update if it crops up again.

(completely off-topic, anyone know why my dwarves would simply stop using Furniture stockpiles??)

EDIT* By the way, I totally forgot to say thanks for all the help... so... THANKS! :D

I've been doing some investigation and it seems the people over at Phoebus have been having the same disappearing text issue. So I guess its a vanilla bug :(

I can't replicate your bug at all, but it looks like it is a display issue rather than some corruption of the files. Still, can you try redownloading the pack and running it fresh from the .zip? Never hurts to be thorough. If that doesn't help, what is your standard desktop resolution? I know if you have odd/too small resolutions it can cause graphical glitches in full screen mode, and the fact that truetype off makes the text run over makes me suspicious of this. What happens when you run the game in window mode?

It continues to do the same thing in windowed mode. And my native is 1920x1080. Re-downloading was actually the first thing I tried before I even posted here :(

Few questions:

1) Are you using the vanilla ironhands .zip or have you added/modded in extra content?

2) does the error remain when you turn on/off truetype?

3) what does your errorlog say?

Getting these right now, I tried true-type off and on and it still did it, but i will try again to make sure. I'll edit this post with results...

Edit*
1) I used the file from here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=2511 (Also dwarf therapist and soundsense, thats it)

2)With Truetype off, The text stops being completely missing, but runs over the edge of the screen, and instead of punctuation there are random symbols.

3)I don't think this has anything to do with it but here's the error log:

I think I might just be doing something wrong, as far as my init settings or something... but I keep getting missing text:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

To the right of the expedition leader it should say "Construct Building"
Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if this belongs on the bug tracker then please let me know.

I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for this, I couldn't have learned, and continued to play DF without Ironhand :D
