I would like to say, that oddly, I do not have this problem in my save ported over from 33g. I am unsure why, but I have had the human/dwarven/elven caravan and respectvie liaisons/diplomats go through my 75 rows of traps completely unscathed. In fact, the elven diplomat found a goblin ambush party on his way in and ran through my traps, killing the party but not him.

This would lead me to believe that it may in fact be some code problem between 38a and 38a 176, since this fortress was never on 38a.

I may do a test later on a fresh 176 fortress to see if I have this problem or not.

In the meantime, a possible solution could be starting a fort in 33g and transferring the save over to 176?

Here's a save about 15 seconds before the caravan comes, it crashes almost instantly. The gamelog shows the caravan arriving at the same time it crashes. This fortress is modified to use humans and I have used reveal, however I have several dwarf fortresses in the same situation if it's required. This seems to only happen a couple years in, the caravan has arrived fine each year before this. I have noted this on the other fortresses too. Seems like 3 or 4 years in when it starts to happen.

I've never noticed the actual mules driving the caravan freezing to death before, however dead animals in cages are quite common on cold maps.

If you have tons of wounded dwarves that are dying of thirst, they probably aren't in a good mood. Which would mean that you are probably experiencing the problem with unhappy dwarves causing freezes. The more that are unhappy the longer and more frequent the freezes are.

I have tons of fortresses that mysteriously crash for no apparent reason, all doing different things.. I have noticed they most of them start after I dump things however.

Perhaps Toady figured out what was making them stick in people's forts and the fix required removing of text? Has anyone had the berserk liaison since the new version?

Sorry if this has been reported, search does not appear to be working/is far too slow for my scheduel but, I had a peasent set as an unarmed unarmored hunter, while he was fighting a deer he somehow became enraged ( Pretty sure this is supposed to be only for animals ) and his mood went from ecstatic to miserable instantly... it then wore off and he went right back to ecstatic and began carrying the now shredded deer back to the butcher's shop. I've seen dwarves enter trances before, but never become enraged so I can only assume this is a bug.

Atleast, that's what I THINK happened. I looked away for a moment, saw the caravan arriving and thought nothing of it until my FPS took a nosedive to about 15 from a steady 90 and I began seeing spam " Cancels store item in stockpile: Item lost or misplaced " I followed one of my dwarves, and to my surprise where there were once wagons were now only logs and scattered goods sitting on the beach being pushed gently about by the waves.

I have noticed slight freezes whenever something enters or leaves ( Unseen or otherwise ) the map i'm currently on. Is this what could be causing it?

They probably have a minor internal injury. It will never heal and they will never spar again. Best bet is to make them marksdwarves, they'll shoot at ranges still.
