DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Dark Fortress Issue and question.
« on: August 30, 2015, 04:59:25 pm »
Ello I am posting about an issue with the dark fortress as you guys already know of this issue due to over population of goblins/trolls which causes lag and lots of LAG!
Anyways I am asking because I myself and another user has been having issues with the dark forts and wondered if there is a solution to this problem? Like is there a way to stop the forts from doing that or what? I did hear a rumor long ago that if you change the location type for the goblin civs in Entity to like a castle or dwarf fort that this will stop the LAG. I do wonder... is this rumor true? or was it just sum troll rambling nonsense? It would be nice to know, thank you very much!

DF General Discussion / Re: What do you want in the next version?
« on: August 26, 2014, 11:32:02 pm »
What do I want to have in the next version?
Hmmm.... If you mean the next BIG release, then I will want this...

- Being able to claim a site in adventure mode, build a house, have a family, protect family etc.
Heck you can build a village, which eventually becomes a city. It would be perfect if you were starting a civ.
- Having to edit starting civ population at the beginning (like 2 people or 10 people or 50, depending on how much the starting civs should start off at)
of the game, which will eventually rise as time progresses. Supporting the civ in adventure mode would be nice, any resources you supply will help them.
- Being able to build your own civ, if you want to start your own faction and have your own site to begin at, which would be nice.
- randomly generated megabeasts such as dragons for example, that way they can do more than just breathe fire, sort of like how it is done with FB's and Titans.
- The ability to mess around with the world like a god, which allows the user to make mobs and what not and apply them into the world thats already made/playing, that way if
the world become too peaceful and you get super bored out of your mind, make a foe that can cause some serious destruction and spawn him anywhere on in the world, then it will eventually cause some hell. Such as making a person or creature that can breathe fire, have the power to reanimate, can give people were beasts curses and vamp people as well or you can make a person that will manipulate chaos within the civ's political system which resorts to riots and such etc, or make it something like a demon that can spawn monsters and make a big army and then raids the rest of the world, theses are just examples. (that's something I want to do)
- Fortress mode for all races.

Attacking Goblin Settlements with a Elvish Demi-god, Stomping their toes, they give into pain, stomp their heads, they die. (Killed 30 so far) :D
Why an Elf ye say? because I sent a scouter to their place which was gang banged by one of the goblin patrols (the scouter was randomly generated since I dice rolled what civ/race I would play as and yea.. LMAO). So the elves want revenge on the Gobs.
Goal: wipe out Gob civ. :D

This is all being done at year 2, same world as the other demi-god that killed a brush titan sometime ago...

While I reached the Dark Fortress I had a HUGE FPS drop, it was like the closer I got the heaver the Elf got and the slower he became, it's almost like as if
the Fortress was giving off a HUGE heavy aura of negative energy from hell. :O

try try again with a newer version. :o

LMAO!

Edit: made another demigod, traveled to a ruin, faught a brush titan, took awhile to weaken it, kicked it ass.
RICH with FOOD, has a scale and a skull as a souvenir. 10 kills so far.

Peasant: it was inevitable...

I must agree that to play the game so far it's better to use 0.34.11, much less frustrating both in Adventure and Fortress mode, much less slow in fortress mode and much less bugs (with dfhack fixing some bugs from that old release too) , now if you want to help making DF2014 live up to the big fun potential it has (and it has a lot more potential than 0.34.11 with all the new features), you can try to "play" or more exactly experiment with it and report bugs to the tracker.

The more bug report or additional save example of existing reported bugs, the better i think as it gives more reproducible cases for Toady to find the source of reported problems

I am sort of doing something like that right now with 2014.

I'm not gonna bother playing the updated ones till they fix this problem, that problem is a big issue in my books.
I'll just stick to 40.05 till they fix it.
It's still broken in .40.05. And 0.4. And 0.3. And 0.2. And 0.1.

If you want a non-broken game, you're going to need to go back to .34.11.

I know it's broken, I ment that I'll stick to what I have till they fix it...
I prefer the constant events playing out as I play. :D

34.11 doesn't have that.

So items still scatter in fortress mode after abandoning or loosing the fort?
I haven't touched fort mode yet, still screwin around with adventure mode. :o
