Damn, why didn't I join in earlier - so many people would have gotten pissed :P

My contribution, because I believe this hasn't been said before: I guess it helps if you know the other person from other places on the board. Looking at the Ukraine thread: My viewpoint is radically different from that of Guardian GI, but I still get along well with him (I hope) because I've seen him make good contributions in other places - that's why I can appreciate his point of view, and evaluate my own according to the new information. That's a thing that actually happened!
On the other hand, take gogis: I've never seen him around, so - by gut feeling - I read his posts as typical internet material, making building bridges much more difficult. Or maybe Vector is a better example: I sure as hell disagree with her on some issues, but in a debate, should I ever get into one with her, it'll be much easier to stay civil - because she's got a 'face', so to speak.

Also, solipcism stuff: It's a valid point here. The Aztecs were perfectly rational in sacrificing their POWs, as were the slave traders when they decided on an acceptable death-during-transport rate. Rationality describes the method, not the goal.
You misspelled solipsism. Your argument is invalid.
You used sentence fragments instead of a semicolon; your argument is invalid.
Unless, of course, I meant them as two separate statements. If I had meant "You misspelled solipsism therefore your argument is invalid," then a semicolon might have been more appropriate. You falsely accused another citizen of falsehood, which is treason. Ignore that.

If I weren't at school, I would have laughed out loud at that.

I hear that Google partnered with someone to make prescription lenses, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Featurewise, it seems to be able to take pictures and share them online, make calls (when linked to a cellphone), google stuff, and probably a bunch of other features. I will play with it more when I get home.

I really hope that someone writes a custom HUD script, so that you could make it show whatever you want, like temperature, humidity, total GDP of the city you're in, and distance to the closest odd-numbered Waffle House. Someone will almost definitely write an app that connects to a pulse monitor, which would be cool.
The interface is surprisingly intuitive. Part of the frame is a touchscreen, where a series of one-or-two-fingered swipes controls it. There is also a camera button, which allows a good alternative to voice control.
The only issue is that the battery life leaves much to be desired.

It is a bit more useful. I didn't have it connected to the internet, so I couldn't use all of the features, but it was pretty cool. It's like having an HUD.

Aww man,  I *wish* conservatives were like cartoon villains, then I might be able to grow a proper goatee. I'll go strap someone to the railroad tracks to see if that helps.

Anyway, seeing as how we have devolved into political metadebate, are there any suggestions for a new thread title?

But are you making your posts using it?  :P
I wish.
Just don't be what some people are starting to call a "glasshole" and I think everything will be just fine.
I don't even get to keep it. I'm just messing with it for a while.

My dad's company got a Google Glass to test out.

It is currently being passed around the management over the course of a few weeks.

My dad is a manager.

I am currently wearing a Google Glass.

It is awesome.

That is all.

Did... did my rant spark an intelligent debate?
*sniff*
Bay12, I love you.

Seems appropriate for a race of cat people.

-snip-
I realize that. I was more saying that people here usually don't realize that are those with alternate views here who don't like defending themselves for of seeming like a giant prick.

At least, I hope that's what I was saying.

You mean the Prime Minister of Australia?[/googled_it]

You're going to need a lot of orange to get that up though.
We are not using Jebediah as fuel! Bill or Bob are just fine, though...
