If not, you can always make nice looking cages from them for your prison

I got funny thing in my surface town, there was a rat stuck between door, probably killed by my carpenter who didn't even notice the rat carcass. Infact, no one did, first it was smelling there, then people just trampled on it, and the blood spread, till my whole town was red
I've build some 15x15 and 20x30 buildings with 3 or 4 floors and sometimes some pieces simply don't attack. I removed one piece of floor from 3rd floor in building and two tiles fell which were next to wall and floor... cause some holes to other floors, death of two dwarves and the builder breaking his legs

Or for that matter... a morbid mood dwarf would sing of the deaths and fails of the dwarves of the fortress, causing unrest and badmood
BATAM!
The first traders are happy enough to get barrels and bins (of good quality by the carpenter) for their food. I usually make 9 beds for the first year and worry about rest later. After those beds are done, the carpenter gets good old barrel/bin duty. The first new comers, anvilman and usually the peasant both get cooking and farming duty. Though I often give anvilman the cooking and peasant to brew
But yeah, as said.. There's plenty of choices, I just like this way most
