My apologies, but will need a 24h extension this time.

32
Hey peeps, I have to give myself a 24h extension. I'll try to get it done earlier tomorrow, but just in case. Sorry.

No need to hurry, I could use it too, due to waiting on exchanges. And almost everyone is turning in their turns late too.

Edit: unintended pun, I will accept divine punishment for my sins, should it be delivered.

33
How ominous.

34
I'd like to request a 24h turn extension, if at all possible. I can do my turn but would risk a significant setback over an unfulfilled trade order, without the extension.

Edit: no need for an extension, it was solved; if this request misleads anyone into not sending a turn, thinking today'd be extended, though, I vote for a roll back, without reservations.

Fomoria hereby rescinds all its diplomatic treaties with Ermor, Kailasa and Mictlan, both in terms of border agreements and existing alliances. Any treaties with other parties remain in place.

Fomoria binds itself to continue to observe the revoked treaties for three turns, for all purposes, even where it was not strictly agreed upon, as a matter of fairness.

Well, that's me done, thank god. Er, excuse me-- thank The Art of Hover Farting.

Did you just lose some major battle?

37
I will need a 1h extension due to a miscalculation on my part; I held my finished turn in case I needed to change anything, but now won't have the chance to send it in time, by a very narrow margin.

My apologies for the inconvenience.

Niefelheim seems to have had its last couple provinces at 100 PD each, for 10k gold.

Even if it was already possible or even probable that it was the AI that spent all the gold on PD, 10k gold pushes it out of "someone has been financing Niefelheim" territory and into "something happened with the AI which I don't know about" territory.

Plus the mercenaries, and temples.

Does anyone know if there are any mechanics in place through which that could have happened? That does not even feel like the sort of bonus an Impossible AI'd get, so I am down to guessing on a lump sum gold injection on going AI.

Well my scouting is insufficient, so there might be more Pangaea than I can see, but I think they're probably done. To MCreeper: thanks for playing, and especially for fighting it out to the bitter end.

I was also hoping to break some other guys into the hall of fame this turn but the xp requirements are too steep. Maybe I'll make a champion's skull for the memes.

Has the capital proper fallen, or are they just locked in there for good?

Huzzah! My starting commander has clawed his way back into the Hall of Fame!

Gotta say, though, I think I'm most impressed by the #2 entry, an indy Annunaki that's managed to die twice.  :o

He must have learnt the legendary Twicedead spell. An unfortunate and often fatal misspelling of the Twiceborn spell.

Given how little time they've held the province after recapturing it, and their misfortune scales, there's no way this is event PD.

I can, indeed, confirm they'd held it for a single turn.

Man, no one ever wants to secretly bankroll me.

Though if someone did sent over a pile of gold and he spent it all on province defense that's actually hilarious.

Now consider it is a random province with no actual use.

Niefelheim briefly broke through the siege on his capital, due to a mix of fortune (lammashtas extraordinarily routed my casters early in the battle), Avenger (a 300 hp, high SR, Heroic Tougness Niefel Jarl Prophet in Dominion 10/Cold 3 with a Sword of Quickness), over 100 gems being burnt in questionable summons, and me being negligent with the siege, not wanting to leave too many mages parked there, since I had it under high unrest lockdown and the Irminsul would need specialized tools to kill if it had the right spell set (20 prot, 500 hp, 20% regeneration, and slash/piercing/blunt resistance is no joke, though I now know Niefelheim did not have most of the spells necessary).

Niefelheim had a single turn of recruiting window, during which it split to take two provinces. I then took the capital back the very next turn and destroyed the majority of their forces in the magic phase. Then they did a turn, apparently PD dumped 100 PD on the province their last 17 units were standing, recruited mercenaries, and went AI.

Whoever gave them all that money, if someone did, gave all that money to someone unable to even use it, which is the more hilarious part.

They also seem to have gone AI, in sequence. Though I only realized it now.

Considering they've had a 70-90 unrest half-capital for the last several turns, Misfortune 1, and that Niefelheim's financial situation was pitched through the war, someone has been financing him -heavily-.

Or they are luck incarnate.

The Hall of Heroes is looking prettty gloomy. When will someone start pulling out some festive mummies?

IDK, the flip side of bakemono being 6/square is that they're twice as vulnerable to AOE spells as humans, and with their weak armor and low HP, an awful lot of pretty low fire evocation could be killing 6 bakemono per cast - and it only gets worse from there. If the Abysian heavy infantry can hold the line (which is a big if given yari density), a handful of fire mages would rack up a lot of kills very quickly. There's also the whole matter of all these troops being undisciplined which means they'll be rushing forward leaving their commanders unprotected - and Abyssia does have access to fliers, including some tanky ones.

I still wouldn't like those odds for Abyssia, but I'm not sure it'd be a death sentence.

Oh, it'd definitely be a fight. But his "a horrible match with no valid counter" felt like vastly overselling Abyssia.

Ironically, I think skirmish works in Yomi's favor where the fire evokers' effectivenes is concerned, but my opinion is a slight edge for Yomi, against a pre-blood Abyssia.
