New randomly genned fortress name: Mountainslaughter. I'll earn it.
Will you be slaughtering mountains or performing slaughter on them?

A guy walked up to me at the store and asked me where the rubber bands were at. I got a far off look in my eyes and said, "Ahh, the Rubber Bands haven't played in forever." I proceeded to stare off into space as he watched me as if I were a rabid animal.

Then I blinked and said, "Oh, you mean the stretchy kind. Yeah, those are over there."

I didn't even crack a smile until he was out of sight. Highlight of my day. :P
I applaud you good sir, I've wanted to use that joke for forever, but never had the chance to.

Or a puppet.

Trying to introduce some local TF2 community players to DF.
One of them is slowly giving way. Its like pulling a big rock out of the ground, thinking it wont work at first, but then seeing it come out by a LIIITLE bit.
If all else fails, show him Boatmurdered or Nist Akath, one of those two should drag him in.

Life Advice / Re: Tipping
« on: June 04, 2012, 10:15:35 am »
What happens to tourists in America who fail to tip out of ignorance?
Well depends on what area you're visiting, around where I live we prefer to string them up by their ankles and let the 'coons take care o' the rest.  In classier states like New York I hear a nice grilled Frenchman is considered a delicacy.  And of course Montana is famous for taking the failure-to-tippers out to the highest mountain in the area, tying them up, and letting the wild Canadians go to work on them.

Assuming you live in America, 15-20% of your bill is generally considered sufficient.

What does it matter? What is the point of this thread other than to make sure you're doing what everyone else does?
In America at least, most of a waiter's paycheck is made up of their tips.  It's not uncommon to have a person working at a restaurant for minimum wage (which is barely enough to live on) and anything past that is all tips.  So not tipping is basically denying a waiter the majority of their paycheck, and under-tipping is the same.

((Still behind the bookcase))

Phantom hears the commotion outside and begins to wonder what sort of architect would make a secret bookshelf that could only be opened from a spot ten feet away from the door.  Oh well, at least he had the little fuzzy guy to cheer him up.

There comes a loud crashing sound from outside and dust comes billowing up the passage.  Coughing and hacking Phantom falls over again, this time his hand falls in what is presumably the same sticky substance.

"Well, shoot."

"Buu!"

"This is your fault isn't it?"

"Buu!"

"Aaaw, even your squeak... buu... thing... is too cute to blame for long.
I could just do that one thing, but there might be people outside still, what do you think Boota?  That's what I'm going to call you from now on!  Boota!  Ye gog... I sound like a twelve-year-old anime character...  What do you think?"

"Buu!"

"Of course you do."

Wait, what happened to my post?  Could have sworn I made one this morning...

I think that a high mortality rate would work well, success means you move up in the mook ranks and failure is death and the bottom of the waitlist.

Idea:
Possibly make it so that the party as a whole advances up the ranks, so that individual success means less; so long as one member survives the party moves up and the new people (or recycled old ones) come in at the same tier.  This would help with the feel of anonymous mook, since your individual death means nothing so long as the group as a whole succeeds you just end up back in in a short while no worse for the death.

Contains the fluffballs.  Second quote really needs a link though, I remember reading it a while ago and it was actually funnier with context I believe.
