84% Ravenclaw, 80% Slytherin. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff can suck it with 44% and 36% respectively.

Man, that's a nice confirmation of my self-image~

Yeah, I thought folks (apart from repressed women :P ) generally start masturbating fairly early. At least that's the impression I got in school...

Yes and they are fools or drunks so I'm glad none of them are here.
*enters thread*

You can also learn lessons from close calls where something almost blows up and nobody dies horribly.
People tend not to, though. 'It worked out fiiiiiiine the last time, remember? It can't be all that risky.'

Pretty much that, yeah - it prevents the courts (or everyone who's willing to make wrongful accusations) from interfering with the political process in an undesirable manner.

Has anyone here ever used poppy seeds in a non-sweet recipe?

Anyway don't expect any class from german humor.
Hey, there's actually a lot of great German humor - it's just usually hard to translate/difficult to understand. Try Heine's Wintermärchen for a lot of good examples. Or Tucholsky. Or Ein Herz und eine Seele.

Iunno, training your dog to do the Hitler salute is definitely a Nazi thing around these parts.

I've been told that going on walks will help my mood. I tried this out today and despite walking for nearly two and a half hours I didn't really do anything that I wouldn't have done normally moping in my room like usual. Didn't talk to anyone or anything.
Well, at least for me going on walks is not about talking to folks or stuff like that - it's about thinking forward, clearly and freely, without the distractions that would otherwise impede that process. Walking about just is an aid there, and a way to get some nice not-too-distracting stimuli.

Been feeling very lonely lately. The medication isn't helping as much as it used to. Its distracting.
Huh, me too. Even though I know there really is no reason for that, the feeling remains.

Maybe I should go for walks more often.

At least in Germany the current taxes on tobacco are sufficient to offset the net costs incurred by smokers on society. In fact we're 36.4 billion euros in the green.

Now, that study may very well be biased - and others come to a different result -, but I don't think you can argue for a price tag of €29 per pack of cigarettes by claiming it's necessary to offset healthcare costs.
The real kicker is: The costs placed on the healthcare system by a single pack of cigarettes are independent of the total amount of cigarettes smoked, which means that (in theory) we don't have to look at the total numbers of smokers to find a 'just' tax rate. Using tobacco taxes in addition to reduce the number of smokers smells like a nanny-state policy to me.

Yeah, I know. But why is it appropriate for the government to send such a signal? What's their mandate?

Damn ninjas.

1048
(you need to send a signal for people to stop)
Why?

You should make neutral info freely availible, and counter the tobacco industry's propaganda, but why should the government have a mission to keep people from smoking? Just make 'em pay for the additional strain they put on the healthcare system, and tell them to go kill themelves slowly if they really want to.

They're stationing 30.000 soldiers - among them 10.000 destined for the south of Russia, which isn't near the Baltics at all - as reaction to 4.000 NATO soldiers? Either the West has Terminator-tier technology, or this is the ultimate piece of evidence that Russia is to blame for the current escalation.

This quote:
"As an existentialist I'm sort of obligated to pretend to think about death constantly, but mostly I'm just thinking about butts and stuff."
Sounds like in vino veritas Sartre.
