Why is it that threads always get hijacked by militant vegans or militant atheists?

Why... that would be... realistic!

I personally like it now that you have to choose between settling near magma and dealing with tons of imps and stuff from the start or starting with no magma and having to do it the real way. Magma was a crutch for a lot of people and let you mass produce tons of free wealth- now alloys like bronze are actually worth making over iron and stuff.

I envy you... I haven't been able to start a new game for the last month and a half out of anticipation of the new version!

I wish he'd release a quickie version today minus help file for us addicts... I basically spent my whole weekend passing the days as quickly as possible so that DF would come sooner! I guess I'll just have to do it again!

I'm planning on making humans playable and building an Egyptian culture in the desert with huge stone Pyramids. Only problem I foresee is surface nile farming...

The next release task list is like a bittorent download... the closer it gets to completion the slower the rate becomes...

DF General Discussion / Re: How would DF work as a MMO?
« on: October 23, 2007, 09:08:00 pm »
Wurm Online is a LOT like DF. You basically start out with just basic tools and can build anything you want in a fantasy setting, and you can craft and farm and everything else. The terrain is also fully modifiable.

Only thing is that you have to travel pretty far out into the frontier to really start from scratch, as the current game world has been going for 4 months and pretty much everywhere within half an hour's walk of the starting area is settled.

For me every room has to be in prime numbers. 1,2,3,5, and 7 mostly. As in, it has to be a prime number wide and a prime number wide and tall, and hallways have to be a prime number wide. If I'm making a string of rooms there will never be more than 7.

DF General Discussion / Re: Performance increase
« on: February 14, 2008, 07:56:00 pm »
I think you're better off with a single core as I don't think dual cores are supported yet.

What I do that really helps performance is increase the processing priority to Real Time.

Can't you just copy the purring maggot info into the creature_domestic file?
