My favorite has to be "Delar the Infinite Cat" Male dwarf, sphere of moons.

I disregard the moon part. He's obviously the god of catsplosions.

A couple of months back I made a gallows system to test out just this thing. Much to my dismay they just disconnected.
Well, I figured prisoners were chained up by their ankles anyways.
Check their inventory wile they are chained. It's attached to their upperbody.

Funfact: If a chained creature is ever disconnected from a built chain they will walk around with the chain still on their upperbody. Quite the fashion statement.

Drawing insane dwarves is very theraputic.
Awesome man, Thanks.

I tried to set up a barracks to see if those equipped with daggers would spar.

They didn't... I'll try think of a way to fix this but I doubt it can be done.

Wow, This workaround is better than I thought.

You can actually have non-military skill weapons now.
Check out my fishing dagger.

I have found a workaround to allow your dwarves to use melee weapons associated with other skills than the ones you can select in the military page.

Proof

It's rather simple. I figured out wile trying to make true throwing weapons (unsuccessfully) that ranged weapons use their ammo skill type when firing, but revert to their actual weapon skill type when out of ammo.

So what you want to do is something like this.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Note that the actual weapon type is dagger wile the ammo uses the sword skill.
Since your dwarves equip ranged weaponry based on what skill the ammo has you'll be able to equip weapons that use the dagger skill when you tell them to equip swords.

In order to avoid them actually using the ammo to fire (which would look really retarded) I simply did not give the entity entry for this weapon an ammo type underneath it.

I just found this out about 5 min ago so it might not work in all circumstances.
Comments greatly appreciated.

I've got a rather difficult one.

In one of my earlier fortresses I had a horrible streak of unicorns killing dwarves.
This lead to all my engravings depicting unicorns killing or laughing at dwarves wile they whimper. At the same time many of the dwarves went crazy from dear friends being slaughtered by the one horned equine menace.

Here's what resulted.

I engraved my entire legendary dining room with the unicorns triumph. Many of the ones that went berserk were captured in the many cages that littered my fortress. I then 'b'uilt those cages into my dining room to make a zoo of berserk dwarves along with some of the more notable unicorns that I caught (a.k.a. the ones that were named).

In doing so I made the most horrific thing I've ever imagined in Dwarf Fortress and I'm greatly proud of it. I wish I had only waited later in that fortress to engrave the dining room. I had killed off about 20 puppies for food and started getting screaming puppies engravings. Would have added to the ambiance of the dining room.

I can understand if this is far to complex for a simple sketch but I've been wanting to depict this dining hall of misery for a long time now. Thanks in advance.

I wonder if I could have another dwarf. One pertaining to the story in some way if possible, I figure since your going into more planed storyline you'll have alot of new story oriented dwarfs that are left unnamed.

Name: Faust

If you cant stick me in the story then just give me a BS dwarf.

I come back from my hospital stay to see my dwarf (Dalrobin) finally gets to join, then immediately goes insane and starts a base jumping trend.

Very short and ungratifying life but in death more than makes up for it.

Hey Captain, just wondering if you've gotten around to putting my dwarf in this glorious fortress.

Also: Huzzah, The fall of the baron is nigh.

I was wondering if I could join? Is so heres what I want.

Name: Dalrobin
Gender: Male
Job: Bonecrafter/Butcher

He's a grim dwarf. Not depressed and the like, but sorrow and death of those around him tends to lift his spirits.
