So i have my first (?) vampire who has just drained a dwarf of blood and killed him. It goes without saying that there were no witnesses. Now that the whole blaming on children and naming things have been fixed, what are the best ways to find vampires? In addition, how often do they feed? Because i have several projects going on and no one to really devote to this.

So i have a wrestling dwarf that somehow got injured, i dont remember how, and his wound got infected and started rotting. At that point I set up a hospital to save him, and my medical dwarves did. They removed the rotten parts, but now he has to cuts (one on each arm) that won't heal. And on top of that it makes it impossible for him to grasp anything (although there is no nerve damage). What can i do to get him to heal? His health screen says there is no treatment waiting, but he's still vomiting. Actually it looks like a bunch of my dwarves aren't healing...

I know there are a lot of threads about this, and I've checked the wiki for assistance, but id like a few pointers on defense. My forts are overrun within the first 3 years consistently and i was hopping someone could help me a bit with design. (Please no X[] sort of text designs, they're practically unreadable, screen-shots or just basic descriptions are preferable.)

Hello all, i'm a young and aspiring author who is beginning to work on a book inspired by our very own DF. Its beginning to look from my story board that one totally consecutive story is impossible with all the ideas i had, and that hardly fits into the feel of DF anyways. Like my fortresses, my stories wont be incredibly lengthy. But there will be a lot of them and some may turn out to be upwards of 50 pages, so its not to bad. The thing is, with a game as beautiful as this (in a beautiful ASCII way), i would like to include some images and pictures. So is there anyone out there who would be interested in doing a few battle scenes or some typical dwarfy fantasy pictures? [/font][/font][/glow]

So i'm really confused about a few basic things involving this release, if anyone can clear this up for me, that would be awesome.

(1) Necromancers. They resurrect the dead; how does that work? Is it line of sight, do they do it whenever they see a corpse, do zombies just raise from their graves as they walk by? Also, do they migrate to your fort?

(2) Vampires. Where do they come from? Can they die? After you know you have one, what do you do with him?

(3) Were-creatures. I have no idea how these work. Where do they come from? Can a migrant be one? And how often does this full moon thingamajig turn them into horrifying dwarf killers?

(4) Are there any other major changes besides the addition of the aforementioned and evil weather? New creatures or things like that.

DF Gameplay Questions / Lair? Moon Horror?

So... I just started a new fortress and as i began, an announcement came up saying i had discovered a lair. Inside is a bunch of corpses, a few coins, and one "moon horror" with a long name. What is this thing? It was inside the lair with a hatch over it, so i hit Q and set the hatch to be locked, so i'm not sure if my people are in danger, but i'd like to know what i'm dealing with. If anyone has any ideas, please tell me.

DF Modding / Quick Question/ New MOD

Alright, so i've been fooling around with modding my game for a few weeks now and i'm getting serious with a zombie infection mod with humans playing as survivors. I have guns set up for them (that work now) and every normal animal/creature edited to fit my game scheme (I also brought several [most] underground creatures above ground and modded them.) However, i want my infected to be more violent, and i have them prone to rage, but what i envisioned is a harder defense sort of mod (As most of my new creatures are very capable of wiping out scores of wandering dwarves before being dealt with by a military) the only problem i'm having is that they just pick off woodcutters and silly hunters that think they can take down a 10000000 size zombie mutant thing and aren't attacking the fortress. So here i ask of two things:

1) I ask the modding community for modding imput and suggestions/advice

2) I ask for way to make my infected charge the fortress instead of wandering the edges of my map.

DF Modding / Wrong Civs

I need some help. I've been making a mod over the last few days and i've gotten it almost completed, but suddenly when i go into the game, all the civs are things like amphibian men and giant cave swallows :o. When i generate a new world it says there are goblins, dwarves, elves and humans, but when I hit "Start Playing" suddenly they're all something else entirely  :'(. Someone please help me fix this, I'm not sure what's wrong. I've checked entities and nothing seems to be out of order, and i haven't moved anything out of their respective folders, so I'm a bit baffled. Anyone have any ideas?
