Work on patching up the armor and, time permitting, setting up camp.

(I actually completely overlooked (re)building armour.  Considering how ridiculously important it is, that's kind of a large oversight.  Ah well.  Patching armour is impossible by hand and impossible while wearing it.  I suppose a skilled tech/engie could manage it via Droids (and good rolls!), but normally you'd get armour from Infantry Garrison/Fortification.)

End of Combat

Carl grapples the creature and skewers his blade into its abdomen while simultaneously forcing it to the ground.  Serina calmly walks over to the creature and executes it with a quick shot to the back of the head.

With the final blow struck, the majority of the hopping insects dissipates, disappearing into the jungle.  The droids continue working on removing the droppod's passenger bulkhead, and the fire burns quietly, slowly eating the fresh tree limbs Selina had gathered to serve as firewood.  With a loud screech, the bulkhead separates from the droppod itself.  The loud thump of its landing is quickly followed by a quiet thump.  Carl inspects the noise first and nearly retches from the horribly disfigured human corpse now lying on the ground beside the bulkhead.  None of the belongings of the corpse are intact, however their remains might be worth something when salvaged.

Having finished their programming, the droids switch into inactive mode.  Carl is capable of restarting the droids, but the sun will soon have dipped too low to provide enough light for them to run on solar power.

While Carl is contemplating his next action, a large number of the insects have swarmed the corpse.  The rest of the clearing is quiet, but the hum of the insects' activity fills the silence.

(Edit) : Current Armour Values
Harvey: 10    Selina: 4!    Carl: 13    Serina: 11
Once Armour has been depleted, the Damage Reduction is also lost.

So I'm currently contemplating a Cleric/Dread Necromancer into True Necromancer for Massive Amounts of Undead (if I can find the feat, I think I'd either have 8xCL worth of Undead or 12xCL, depending on perspective... and availability).  Obviously, that wouldn't sync well with our resident Paladins and other Holier than Thou, so I don't know.

As far as which starting level, I'm actually fine with either.

Combat

Harvey shoves off the hound charging at him, shooting it in its had as it passed, before levelling his gun on the new arrivals.  He let's loose a quick shot as Serina quickly finishes off the monster assaulting her and joins Harvey in killing the new creature.  Carl continues holding off one of the creatures with brute force, which gives Selina enough time to fire a pair of shots into its head.  It slumps, dead, in front of Carl, but another bounds out of the jungle and blindsides him, dealing 9 damage.

Carl acts next!

(Would have assumed you wanted to melee, considering last turn, but that's probably inappropriate.)

485
((You missed an attack action from me earlier then, just pointing that out :/))
(Oh, update prior to last.  Well, crap.  I'll give you a +2 to hit for the next update.)

486
Keep up the fire!

((I think you may be confusing Cado and I more than a few times though :P))

(After this fight, you're going to be Ms. Martin and Ms. Talv.  Not going through this again!  I suppose it'll be moot when one of you dies though.  Although, other than the ridiculous awkwardness of my post, I don't see any issues?  It was targeting Serina.  There was 1 on Harvey, 2 on Selina (one of which is dead), and 1 on Serina.)

487
The first one nearly skins the creature...
((Um...do you my any chance mean merely skins the creature or something? Maybe skims or something, instead of skins?))

Charge at them. Attack a beast that is near enough to Selina to attack with the blades on my exoskeleton.

(Yes, absolutely skims.  I'm having an off week for getting the particular words I want.  Odd, though, that for this issue the word I came up with at least sounded the same as what I wanted...  Also, just a reminder that melee deals less average damage and is less likely to hit.)

Combat

Even with the chaos swirling around Serina and the powerful blow the creature struck with, she manages to grab her rifle and fire a shot before being attacked again.  The shot goes wild, missing the creature entirely, but as it charges into her again, she get's another shot off in time, striking it in its 'chest,' slowing it down and weakening the power of its attack.  It does, however, connect with Serina, dealing 5 damage.

Carl, however, charges the other beast near Selina, interrupting it as it was making another assault.  He intercepted the attack, intending to strike it with his blade, but instead clumsily overran it, knocking it around.

The creature in front of Harvey bounded towards him, but with some quick thinking and sharp movements, Harvey managed to avoid its attack.  While he was dodging the creature, he noticed two more of the creatures emerging from the jungle line.  Serina notices Harvey's distraction and tracks his eyes to the jungle, also seeing the two.

Combat

Harvey aboutfaces to bear his rifle on the monster that had nearly hit him, before firing a pair of shots towards it.  The first one nearly skins the creature, but Harvey quickly adjusts his aim, and the second shot impacts on its torso.  Its entire body recoils, with a red searing hole in its hide.  Greenish brown blood seeps out of the hole, however it remains standing.

Selina recovers from the assault and brings her own rifle to target the creature squarely.  She fires two shots in quick succession, the first hitting it in the 'shoulder' joint, and the second in the head.  It collapses in a pile, smelling foully of burnt blood.

Harvey, Carl and Selina can tell that the beast Harvey is fighting is nearly dead.  Serina is too distracted.

Serina is next to act.

489
"Selina! Shit!"
Wait impatiently for my turn.

(Apologies, I meant that the turn order was those two first.  The other players can post actions, however you're likely to act after the 'beasts.'  I'll run Ranger's and Patrick's turns now, though.)

((As a suggestion for the droid's laser, rather than them being inaccurate, which doesn't make sense on an immobile mechanical platform, plus being a laser, it could have high diffusion/bloom, which means the beam dissipates after a short while, making it useless as a weapon, [or possibly make it a cutter of several low-power lasers that converge at one point to make a cutting point, and else where the individual lasers are too low-power to make a decent weapon. Or both. While I appreciate this isn't hard sci-fi, that just seems more logical to me. Feel free to ignore this, though, if you want to.))

(The diffusion is actually what I meant by "inaccurate," I'm just horribly unfamiliar with laser technology so the words evaded me.  The second part of that actually sounds better, as multiple low-power lasers would probably be more energy efficient overall.  So we'll go with that.)

490
(( How far away is the one that missed me? ))

(If you really want to, you can hustle up to it and punch it.  Not going to use distance modifiers until you get out of the jungle.  If you can see it, assume you get your full attack bonus.)

491
((I take this was taking armour DR into account?))

(Nope!  The damage has yet to be reduced by armour DR.  Wanted to make it more simple for everyone, even if that meant tipping my hand.  It also let's people have a more visceral reward for higher DR armour.)

(GM OOC: Pretty tired, so less detail than I wanted to put in.  First combat!)

Carl watches over the Droids as they cut their way into the droppod with their industrial lasers (which are not suitable for combat.  They have a long charge-up time and are inaccurate.)  Serina and Harvey patrol around the droppod, watching for activity in the jungle.  As the sun dims, the plant changes colour from green to a more yellowy shade.

Selina begins piling fallen plants for a fire and shoots it with her laser rifle, igniting them.  A thin trail of smoke rises into the air.

Harvey hears some rustling, but is incapable of pinpointing where.  Both Harvey and Serina hear a very quiet buzzing noise.  Branches snap loudly, and Harvey wheels towards the sound, bearing his Laser Rifle towards a grotesque creature charging into Selina.

The creature's green skin looks stretched over its body, with four segmented limbs running against the ground.  Its head bears some similarity to an Earth mosquito, although its lack of antennae and presence of large mandibles disuades the similarities.  The creature's relative size is about equal to that of a wolf, though its appearance is effectively synonymous with a bug.

Harvey fires a shot at the creature before it barrels into Selina, but it singes the ground next to the creature.  Its limbs punch into Selina, dealing 4 damage.  It then bounds off a few feet away from her, preparing for its next strike.

Immediately after this attack, Serina, who had recovered her wits quickly, fires her own attack at the creature, but her shot also goes wide.

Three more creatures of similar, though not quite the same, appearance also emerge into the clearing.  One charges Harvey, but overshoots and misses him completely.  Another one charges Serina, faring better, tackling her and dealing 8 damage.  The fourth creature, tailing behind the others, hisses and follows the same course as the first; it practically leaps onto Selina, striking her for an additional 4 damage.

Everyone also notices the presence of many small insects, similar to grasshoppers in appearance, hopping on top of everything in the clearing.

Harvey and Serina act first.

So we had a restful night with no encounters. Yay!

@Grek: My action isn't changed, however-can you roll my hunting and scavenging for the morning?

Also, I suppose we all tick off a ration...unless Grek is handling that too.

On careful inspection, the party has enough people with ranks in survival (Or, in Ashii-karn's case, a huge Wis score) to consistently take 10 on survival checks to find food/water, find shelter and predict the weather. As long as everyone is OK with moving at half speed while foraging, any group with one or more of Eli, Holdron, Rohan or Ashii in it can be assumed to have enough foraging going on that rations need not be explicitly tracked.
Should I take Motivate Wisdom on my next level, the PARTY will get +4 to Survival Checks pretty much all the time.  Among other things, too.

(Quickly popping in; I'll try to do an update when I get home tonight, if Rem hasn't done one by then.  Don't really have time right now.)

Shield wall doesn't work with bucklers...only heavy shields. And you have to be adjacent.

What I find funny is that gnomes tend to be tankier than dwarves. In terms of pure combat, at least. Dwarves can resist shit, and all.

On the other hand, Kobolds would work well for this. Or the halfling/gnome prestige classes focusing on fighting larger opponents.
Shield Wall doesn't specify "Heavy Shields," only shields, and if you're using Swarm Fighting, you're adjacent anyway.
