@GM I am not sure, leaning towards the level-ups. Could you explain a bit what the 'routine' includes? To quote,

Grab a soda can from my cooler and open it. Take my datapad and wander off to the wrec room, looking for a 'Corpsman fresh from the mission to chat with.
I still cannot think of us in any other way than the 'Corps. Old habits die hard, don't they?
