I will admit I'd fucking love to see Steve's reaction if we manage to kill the Lurker and the Eater of Stars with the deathcube and he has to face the reality that he was probably holding the means to success on the Sword for decades and never knew it.

And as for what I've been doing, I've mostly been running errands for the blacksmith - I'm doing one right now, actually. Haven't really had time to bother with getting clothes, y'see. Do you know where the blacksmith is, by chance? I'm unfortunately suspective that he's wandered into a secret tunnel in the castle over thereabouts, but the fellow helping me look for him hasn't come out yet, which leaves me idle until then."

I suppose I could just take a connection from somebody and ask the well where he is, but I'll go through regular channels first.

Oh, not me. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to, it'd be an awesome way to go out and if I died it'd certainly be a satisfying one, travelling to find the omnipotent cube that can kill a universe-eating god.

But I'm constrained by acting in-character, and Xan's ambitions lie elsewhere since he knows about extrauniversal travel. Heroic sacrifices may be cool, but his plans don't include dying.

actually this should be possible. you'd just have to figure out by comparison which button meant 'nearest hostile being' and you could do it.
