I really should quit smoking but it's sort of hard... Oddly enough I'm not terrified of the prospect of getting lung cancer but the thought of getting oral cancer sort of freaks me out.
Dude.
Do it. Lock yourself in a room for a week if you have to, but quit the damn things.
Their effects are bad and horrible and badhorriblebad, not necessarily in that order.

It goes with understanding. No matter how bad the other person is, they still have redeeming qualities.

I have a difficult time going that far.  You don't have to have good qualities to be loved.

You're willing to overlook it. That's a big difference.

I have PTSD.  It is literally impossible to "overlook" it.
So you can acknowledge the fact that this person has very little good qualities, if any (from what I've inferred), and almost drove you to suicide at one point, which is a bad thing by most moral codes, and you still unconditionally love them.
Why are people making a fuss about this?

Uh.
That ... seems to be overly harsh logic. Unconditional love for a person even if they do harm to you is a thing.

Uh.
@Xantalos puts that plotline on pause while he figures out what to do. Everyone who's in that place is transported to the town, I guess.
Aqua leads the party of people who like not partying to a lone tree outside the town.
THERE ARE NONE SUCH NONJOLLY FOLK

Literally the entire town is filled with them. It appears the town decided to celebrate the fact that they got saved.

They're interrupted by a sudden massive drunken peasant celabrational dance swooping in everywhere.

Indeed there are celebrations. And the people did feast upon the lambs.
And the goats.
And the pigs.
And the antelopes.
You get the idea.

Like MSH said - would you love someone if he started committing atrocities? If one day, he woke up and decided that from now on, he will begin every day with torturing a kitten to death?

The thing I don't understand here--the thing I really don't understand--is why the people in this conversation don't seem to think "emotionally abusing a person to a point of nearly killing themselves" is an atrocity.
Wait wat.
I haven't been following it, but could I have some context here?

Right, but 666 is one of those numbers seen as "unlucky" in many places. I don't know if the ancient Romans saw it that way, but I intend to use it for NaNoWriMo and the fact that it looks really good and is easy to remember when translated to the numerals is icing on the cake.
Supposedly, the number 666 is associated with Demons of the Apocalypse, and that people who are marked with 666 will be protected/have control over those monsters.

Basically, it's Dark Age witch hunting bullcrap.
Besides, 999 is a cooler number.

*@Xantalos waves his appendages*
That battle with the fire people was won by the player characters, though with injuries. Lucario got burned a fuckton by virtue of being hit with multiple volleys of 20 fireballs, that videogame person was brought down to about 75% health, Jason was severely burnt when the Flameborn he dissolved the swords of went into animeraegmode and unleashed a tremendous can of whupass on him because the impression that @Xantalos got from anime is that when sufficiently angry, one's pawor level increases by arbitrary%. Anyhow, the rest of the newcomers are unhurt and there's a bunch of townspeople coming to thank them for their random act of violence noble and selfless act of defense or whatever. Wat do.
