The wolves, having somehow landed on the branch where Jason was previously, turn and leap to the tree where he reeled himself to. Damn they good jumpers.
The pistolwhipping is kinda effective, seeming to make an impact as the wolf moves to leap on Lucas.
Catherine ... ... ... barely dodges the wolf's first bite, but it latches onto her hand on the second attempt and begins crunching.
The ice wall begins to shrink somehow.

The wolf isn't so much affected by the water as it begins lapping it up. It's movements grow quicker as it drinks.
Any particular material?

Anyhow, both wolves begin clawing their way up the tree to Jason's position, seeming to leap up the tree.
The ice spike pauses it for a second or so, making it draw itself off the spike and ... eat it? before beginning to maul her. She'd have an opportunity to do something before it commenced.
Question, what type of pistol? What's the buff made out of?

He fixes himself back onto another branch and begins whipping the above wolf.((Wait, how? Sorry if I described it badly, but his upper body's hanging off the branch and the first wolf is sitting on his legs.))

One wolf leaps preposterously up and tackles Jason onto the branch so that he's hanging from his legs while the other one starts leaping up in an attempt to latch onto his flailing head.
The wolf ... jumps straight over the ice wall and tackles Catherine. Oh deary me.
While it shakes its head a little in response to the bullets, it shakes them off and dashes toward him.

It splits open and spills a viscous yellow fluid where it died. It's apparently the stuff that was doing the glowing. At the sight of it, the other shapes immediately rush in and begin ... sucking it up with what looks like tongues.
The jackass GM gives Jason the sense that they'll attack him after they're finished eating the stuff.
Catherine and the others arrive in Jason's general location, the griffon fading away under the influence of the magic dampening field.

Plus they aren't exactly shadow like things. I'm just not good at describing things that are defined by your inability to look at them.))
The cords, where they impact the wolf at it's hind section, seem to punch through it. Both it's legs are removed, and fade away as they fall to the ground. It falls to the ground and begins trying to reach him, scrabbling forward with its front legs.
The leg stumps and it's back end seem to be glowing slightly.
