Do you mean the vamps in FTN? If so, numbers are your friend. Hire as many people as you can - for meat shields, you understand. You should be very skilled before you try this, though, like killing megabeasts level. Then go and accuse the vamp, let your small army be meatshields for you, tying the vamp's attention (and attacks) somewhere else, then take cheap shots at it until it dies.

I remember reading a short story kinda similar to yours. It was basically where the players got dropped onto (virtual) Mars with basically nothing but a few tools and were able to build a functionin economy around it.

So, overview of what's happened so far:
Rankar got contacted by me, was shown there the Crown was, went off into the mountains and promptly altered history and went to a temple.
Ramus went out for a job killing squidpeople, got horribly outnumbered and temporarily paralyzed by his evil sister, ran to another villae and almost died by dragon but is now inside her mind while she murdernates the invadin frogpeople.
Solbryn wandered around, had a discussion with a harpy, shrunk said harpy with a fruit, met a Kasar, and got taken back to their camp.
Altogether not bad!
