ADWD was bad, and it took six years. There won't be a sixth book, because GRRM is tired of his story.
It's rather easy. He's stopped adding PoV characters. Everything from this point forward is descending action from an arc perspective. Feast and Dance were rebuilding books to launch us into the grand conclusion. Things begin resolving, truly resolving, from this point forward.He finished Dances With Dragons in 2011, didn't he? If he's had one or two years, hopefully Winds Of Winter'll be out next year or the year after.
The question will be if he can keep pace with the show, because the show's going to keep going forward with its own thing until it hits a conclusion or a cancellation.
