AvP: Extinction.
Note the scythe guy that kills anything in 4 hits with the power of technobabble. That fucker could take out a Hive Tyrant if it got close enough.

I'll go with this as good, but just with the coma please. FTN is brutal enough already.

X-COM. In the Warhammer 40k universe.
A tiny branch of an insignificant planet's PDF, until they start carting around plasma guns are walking around in flying armor. Then they might qualify for the Stormtroopers.
Eh, I don't know. the Stormtroopers are actually pretty hardcore when they aren't being dumbed down by the Force plot devices.
That's why I said they might qualify. It takes some big brass ones to march into a Necron tomb when you know that the things are starting to wake up, and quite a few X-COM operatives might not be able to handle it.
As many of us know -_-

Spoiler: Warning: F*ckhuge (click to show/hide)

Keep in mind these are from a strategy game and thus might not be valid canon.

In concept, awesome. I'll agree there.

In practice? Predators are doomed to extinction unless they stay somewhat in hiding a la Eldar. They try sending their teenagers against Space Marines (who have the super senses to keep up with them, at least better than a baseline human), Tyranids (Xenomorphs that can shoot back), or god forbid Necrons, and you'd have a lot of dead teenage Predators.
Yeah, I'd imagine if they got plopped into 40k they'd reform their culture VERY quickly. Wait, let me see if I can find the thing about units in some strategy game. May take a minute.

From what I know (note that I'm not experienced in the lore at all), the Xenomorph hunting is more a rite of passage from what we've seen in the movies. AvP was such a thing, and generally the best ones come out alive, and if they die ... eh. They couldn't survive in a pyramid filled with Xenos, they don't deserve to be a MAN.
Also, all the Predators in the movies are (from what I know) either teenagers, as in AvP, or young and inexperienced, as seen in Predator, Predator 2, and the one original Pred in Predators - the other scarier ones were outcasts of some kind. Dishonorable, etc. The only actual experienced Predator who isn't going on a hunt to prve himself to his clan is ... that guy from AvP Requiem. I haven't seen it, but from what I hear it was pretty bad. Nevertheless, I also hear that (Wolf?) slaughtered Xenos like there was no tomorrow. So yeah, we've generally seen the Predator equivalent of teenagers becoming men or young 20somethings going on hunts to make themselves seem more manly.
I've no idea how good they are with spaceships and all that considering there isn't any lore at all on that from what I know. Like at all.
True about the success rate and the reprisal against the Imperium, but just the concept is awesome on it's own.

If FPS weren't an issue, I might get more serious about my idle idea to try to fireproof dwarfs with carefully controlled body fat melting, and then put magma mist generators at all entrances, choke points, major intersections, and meeting areas.  Not even have a military, just the very air inside the fortress is on fire all the time.

Humans exercise to lose weight. Dwarves just walk through magma.

Also, not to bug ye, DZA, but how is your progress on the update going?

To continue the discussion and continue my latest 40k binge, what would happen if all the Predators - all of them, their planets, ships, everything - were suddenly dropped into Warhammer 40k? I'm fairly sure they'd end up carving out an empire for themselves among the stars, but would they ally with the Imperium? Probably not, but still.
One last (amazing) idea: what if the Predators managed to reverse-engineer Space Marine creation?
I have no idea how good their ships etc are, but I guess it would all depend on how well they stand up to three things:
  • Space fleet battles
  • Full-on ground warfare
  • The wargear used by the various factions

Because we typically only ever see small groups of Predators hunting small groups of ill-prepared "prey" on foot. Could they do anything against, say, an Earthshaker barrage? What about Titans? How many of their ships would it take to take on an Imperial battlecruiser? Heck, even a destroyer is well over a kilometer long and armed to the teeth. You get the picture.

As for "reverse-engineering Space Marine creation"; why would they? Running around in adamantium power armor doesn't sound like the kind of thing Predators would be in to.
As far as I can tell, everything we've seen about the Predators so far (in the movies at least - haven't read the comics but I hear they're mostly the same) is basically the equivalent of some dudes going out into the woods to hunt moose or something. Their military weapons (at least their infantry weapons) are seriously hardcore, from the one source we do have. Flamers that fire ... fire hotter then a star core, predators that are basically walking missile racks, guys who can control up to 9 of those flying disc things at once, and one particularly OP unit who carries a scythe that kills ANYTHING in 4 hits. Through the power of technobabble. I've no idea about their ship combat, though. A ship of theirs, probably standard if it's anything to go by, killinated a human cruiser with one shot and could cloak ... not much else on the space front.
It seems to me that Predators would be interested in becoming even more buffed-up than they already are, regarding the reverse-engineering the Space Marine thing. I mean, look at the regular Marines - 8 feet tall, superhuman in every way, practically immortal, blah blah blah. Now take all that and apply it to a Predator. They'd probably be 10 feet tall, by my guesses.

Basically. It's an RP as if you were suddenly actually sucked into the game. Most likely you will band together to survive, building shelter and establishing a fort of sorts.
Or have your mind broken and run off gibbering.
