Jack momentarily closes his eyes and goes to a mental place full of sharp things. It's a simpler place than wherever this is. Just draw a line in your head and cut. One point to the other. Nice and simple. Entrancing, even. There never was anything like a good sharp knife to just ... stare at and wonder what you could cut with it...

Jack shakes his head slightly as he comes out of his momentary self-distraction.
"Er, right. Yeah, that'd probably work. I just ... hmm. Do you think that rock the sacrifices are done on could be considered profane? Or would that be the sacrificial implement?
...
Do you know anyone who's not really that useful, maybe you don't like them all that much, wouldn't miss them if they were gone for some reason?"

Jack isn't quite registering that he's leading up to what he's leading up to, but the words come out of his mouth regardless.

1. Going good. Not much has changed since we got our black belt, but y'know. S'good.
2. Never did, ended up replacing with another obsession. Moreso, you saw this one creeping up on us when you were writing this. Why didn't you warn me, asshole?
3. Uh. Kinda? I'm putting it on hold until I finish that Age of Fire post, which I'm ... 80% done. Look, we're lazy, we knew this about ourselves already.
4. Depends on which friends you mean. I unintentionally cut all my old ties, but I might be on the way to reforming one. So only kinda. Getting help on that front.
5. Progress has been made, if only due to my apathy levels having been power leveled due to our job.
6. We moved again. I think this one will hopefully stay for a while, but you know how these things go. I'm only kinda holding onto hope that we won't be packing up in a year by this point.
7. ...oh SHIT you fucker why did you not set reminders for me earlier than this

I'll ptw for now and add any resolutions I haven't made already here if I do come up with any.

This is giving me so many ideas for later.

Xan finally decides to get out of his chair temporarily and look at whoever this is.

"Anything pointy? I've had a disturbingly easy time coming up with ideas for ritual sacrifice while waiting here but most of them involve using one of those."

Evidently someone new's doing the schedule at my workplace, because for the next three weeks at the least I'm booked for all the days I normally go to karate. This won't stand. I'm gonna be changing my schedule or somesuch soon as the new year rolls about.

You can take what ragged vestiges of my social life I have left, I'm used to not ever interacting with people outside a task-oriented context.

You can take away my happiness by having my job consist of mostly mindless labor and appeasing the greedy whims of hungry people with no real prospects for giving my life any purpose beyond helping make people fat, for now my sense of self-worth is low enough that I'll allow it.

You can take away my ability to stand up without pain by having all the counters be so low compared to me that they're at my upper thigh at best, I'll just work on my knees.

Sure, take all that stuff that's probably vital to my stable psyche in the long run, I was planning on gradually phasing you out of my life anyway so it's not a huge issue in the short term.

But don't take my fucking martial arts away from me.

Changes are going to be bigger than initially planned.
