That's weird. My own (Christian) friends are like "Well, God said to be tolerating and to love our neighbors, so it's all cool," and that despite the fact that God kinda said gay is bad in the Old Testament, so are a lot of other stupid things like the hundreds of interesting but fiddly laws God gave to the Israelites...
Well that might be because Christians are people too and some feel that the bible is full of lovely stuff too, so why should it be ignored to the exclusive detriment of others?
It might also be due to the fact that quite a few verses of the bible tell us that we can ignore a bunch of those old laws, while a bunch of other verses tell you that you must follow them.

Really all-in-all the bible is very contradictory about most rules that it passes down. Even things like the 10 commandments suffer from this, when we have an explicit commandment that tells you "Thou shall not kill" and then we have thousands of other verses telling us things like "Whoever curses father or mother shall die".
From what I understand you just don't listen to Leviticus because it damns you for wearing polyester.

I only dislike Spore because it was going to be so much more. For example, there was initially going to be a phase where you'd create the genetic makeup of your creature. It acted as a puzzle game, and if you messed something up it could mean that your creature has genetic deformities that could detriment them in the future. The beginning water phases were also supposed to be much longer, and you'd have to evolve quite a few times before you could go on land. These features were taken out because playtesters thought they were too hard.
The molecular, aquatic, and city stages were taken out. That frankly sucks ass, but the final product in and of itself isn't that bad.

I sometimes feel like playing Spore, and I do occationally, but I'm always looking for a mod that reduces the amount of quests/pirate raids in the Space Stage as I would really just like to explore. It's annoying that I seem like the only one who's able to solve peoples problems and if I don't complete the quests I gain a diplomacy penalty with that alien race.

I can't explore because everyone needs my awesome skills of problem solving. ::)
I simply kill everyone. Solves the problem!

I would probably play it again if the DRM on it wasn't some ultra draconian bullshit.
I feel you there.

If this is still alive, I'm working on a post- though it naturally won't be long enough to justify how long it took.  :-X
I have no doubt it's still alive, just taking a while because DH is busy. I'm not complaining, though.

I'm playing Spore, and much to my rediscovered surprise, this isn't half-bad! Mostly because of my badass creatures, but still.

Udil stole Volondor's sphere and identity.
I might take Corvus' when I eat him. If I eat him.
Well technically no because the player quit and yeah.

28992
...Yes?
I know everyone's forgotten the big hue and cry I put up when Vanida tried to steal Az-Sho's fire, but seriously? That's just wrong, to steal a god's sphere.

Quote from: Ardas

"Lo, I see that you are busy at work, freely using of Magnus' gift.  have a request to make of you, and i see it to return the favour equally, if you say yes. Corvus is paranoid, warped and spiteful. He is failing in his duty as a god of Knowledge, which is why I took it upon myself to grant technology to the mortals of this world. But This is outside of my sphere and i cannot do it as efficiently as you would. Would you join my pantheon and take over the sphere of Knowledge? You would be in power over all affairs of mortal improvement and knowledge, both emotional, spiritual and technological. I will give you a Mighty act to take over Corvus' sphere as the god of Knowledge in my pantheon.
Wat.
WAT.

GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT POND

GO FIND SONEONE ELSE AND STAB THEM TO RELIEVE MY FEAR

They do me more good than they appear.
Okay.  Would you rather I stop so you can depend on your cultists to free you in a timely manner while the many different beings outside plot ways to bring an end to you?
I'm not complaining. Please, continue!
