I've tried this and it generally ends with the former adventurer killing the entire city without a scratch, becoming even more skilled in the process, and then killing you.Long ago, I had an awesome adventurer who killed countless bandits and kobolds, a plains titan, and a number of other beasties. Along the way, she became a Mace Lord (Lady?), a Necromancer, and then a Vampire. I got bored with her and retired her in a city at some point, to start the adventure anew with some other poor bastard. After a string of dead poor bastards, I finally kept one alive long enough to get to a nearby city. "This city seems familiar," I think to myself. I beg for a quest, kill a night beast, return, ask for another, and am told to kill a vampire that has infiltrated society. Hey, guess who that vampire ends up being.
