The increased damage is to the Aegis, not you. It's very vulnerable to Close Range attacks (takes increased damage and is destroyed faster) but reduces medium and long range attacks. So vulnerable to close range - and completely bypassed by melee attacks. Might want to find a gun.

It's also the only defence against mental attacks and can be recharged at will, so yay.
Ehehehehehe....well, this should be fun at least.

I've found that Life Begins at Death has not so much been about epic adventure and treasure as it has been about miserable failure and dealing with it. And treasure. And miserable failure is anti-climactic more often than not by its very nature.

So are they.
Says who? Nothing has said that they aren't just really advanced technology.
Technology has all sorts of ways to go wrong ...
Also, hopefully this works.

"Yes, my lord, but for now, I think we may be able to help you in this endeavor. We are not dimwitted, after all you made us, and we may be able to help you sever the bond. I will go to my kinsmen and try to develop a way. After all, if we d not help you in your hour of need, then we are not deserving of you giving us ours."
With that, Ruka left, flying swiftly, with determination and purpose. He would tell his kinsmen that their benefactor needed their help.
They would be only too happy to oblige.

Ruka goes amongst the Crowborn and leads them on a study to develop a device that can weaken or break the bond between Corvus and Aldemas.

No, I just assumed that you had more to post-say.

YES
YESYESYESYES

EDIT: Wait, what exactly does the Aegis do? It makes you resistant to close-range damage but vulnerable to long-range damage or the other way around?

"Ah, much better. Now, who to kill first?"
"You! Cowardly hunter person!"

Charge Hunter and kill her/him.

They're Daemons on a Black Crusade. Or Chaos Marines.

Either way...
You guys are gods.

LLLLLLAAAAAAAAZZZZZZOOOOORRRRR

29321
Ruka seized his chance at this point.
"But you are a god. You are not affected by the passage of time as we are, and you have strength beyond our imaginings. If you will not use it, then it is sure you will fail. But if you succeed, what then? You must do something.
It seems to me that you are experiencing a territory push: the gods of Despair want what you have, or they want you gone, whatever the cause, they see you as weak, and you know as well as I do that the one way for a predator to be convinced to back off from it's meal is to be convinced that it is not worth the effort. You must show them your strength, and only then will they quit this hassling of you.

My brothers and I will support you in any way possible, but you must fight back! You must. You are the father of our race; I kow not what we would do without you."

29322
Well, clarification: the sneaky figure on the door was Udil. The face egging him on was Vanida.

You guys are freakibg out needlessly. If someone tries to destroy them and it don't work, then you have a problem.

29323
"My lord, but what if you should triumph against this foe? What then? It was obviously not you that caused this ... this parasite to come to you and to ... to drain you. What did this?"

29324
That really pessimistic crow.

Human brain, why you gotta be so counterintuitive?
Because it's the thing doing the intuiting.

Exactly. You think it'd know how to make more sense, seeing as how it's the only thing we have that's capable of making sense.
Control the water intuiting, and you control ... everything.
Would that technically count as mindbending?
*handwave* This is not the conclusion you are looking for.
