HuntrBlackLuna is a relatively small-time LP'er. Nevertheless, he does pretty good LPs and I'd how I first learned about DF.

Sorry guys, I've been kinda going slightly mad from sleep deprivation from the past few days, but as you all know that's the best time ever to start checking apps and writing first posts!
That's how I've lived for the past several years, and I think I'm relatively sane.
*twitch*

The problem with this debate is that about 90% of Gandalf's powers are just hinted at, or referenced in some obscure book that no one has read, or the description is so poetic that you have no idea what happened.

GandalfxElrond = Love
DON'T BRING THAT UP FOR THE LOVE OF EÄ

At the very least a supernatural fear-inducing ability.

Unless Dumbledore is an atheist, in which case Gandalf ceases to exist.
Eeeh...
Keep in mind I'm not an expert or anything, just bored, so don't expect a high quality of argument.
Gandalf is a Maiar, essentially a member of an order of beings who created the LOTR universe over a guy singing a different song than God. The entire history of Middle-Earth is just a debate to these guys.
So yeah.

Yeah, sure, you can kill humans with Avada Kedavra just fine... but if you go up against something more powerful like a chimera or maiar it might not be as effective.

I believe Avada Kedavra outright kills everything it touches.
Still, minor god in mortal form>really good wizard.

I'd convert.

Not to Christianity; different topic.

It was a bit confusing thanks to the preceding conversation  :P

Though now you've got my brain imagining Pope Grievous IV.
I think the Church could benefit from a little insanity.
Well, more than usual.

Is the Killing Curse a spell Dumbledore would allow himself to cast? I, uh, never actually read far enough to find out, but it seems like the kind of arbitrary moral restriction he might have.

I can't recall him ever casting it, but I wouldn't put it beyond him, especially if he (as the OP states) believes the other is pure evil and must be destroyed.
True, but if they are both using their full powers, Gandalf still far outclasses Dumbledore. In the books he hardly ever uses magic and he killed a Balrog. With his full power, he wins.
Although in my head canon inspired by FD, I think it was FD, Dumbledore is a fragment of Gandalf that was sent into another dimension when he was killed, embodying a fraction of his power.

It's not a question of comparing their 'power levels' or something. I'm sure Avada Kedavra would kill a Balrog too. It's a spell that kills anything living; it's absurdly stupid, and it would win Dumbledore the fight.
Gandalf interrupts Avada Kerdavada: Used Dodge, then went One-Winged Angel.

Roll To Dodge / Re: Space Whaling Adventure RTD - Shopping Phase

I missed this?
GODDAMMI-
Oh there's a waitlist.
Ahem.
Character incoming.

Name: Brohak Gargon
Appearance: A tall, lean man, skin browned and salty from seaspray despite having never seen a sea. His eyes are bright green, with more than a hint of madness in them. His long manly mane of red hair is wavy, accentuating his mouth, which is a thin line of sourness when not hunting, but on the hint devolves into a wide-mouthed grin.

Brohak grew up on a frontier planet, and being from a relatively poor family, had to hunt for a living. There were savage beasts on this world, but in time he became better than all of them, capable of slaughtering them with ease. Bored of planetary hunts, he looked to the stars.

Obligatory argument:
Gandalf wins because he's an immortal angel while Dumbledore is just a man. A very good man, but just a man.
