No, they count.I like transhumanism, I'm in favour of it. But all the "Connect your brain to the internet!" funsies is a little... sketchy, to me. >_> I'd prefer to expand my OWN memory and processing power, and just store all my stuff in my own noggin, instead of connecting to the internet directly, yanno? Not that its going to improve my mood at it at all, but there certainly is a point you might've missed, SG: They tell him (and specifically him) that someone had bought a share in the company for him and one other person. That is why he can leave. Each person can only have one share, and theres usually only so many shares available, correct? Yet later it says 400k people a day are arriving or something like that.
Yeah, I didn't think of it right away, but every time I look back on the story, I'm more convinced that the Australia project is basically an update to the terra cotta public housing system. They let people think they're escaping, but they're just being warehoused into a Matrix-like existence. I did notice that slight disconnected the first time I read it, but just thought it was a minor thing the author overlooked.
Which actually makes it into a pretty decent ending, if you choose to interpret it as a very subtle commentary on what a fucked up pandora's box of paranoia transhumanism has the potential to be. I'm not sure that's how the author intended it, though.
Cloud brains..
Also I really really wan a cigarrrette but it's' beenn like a month now and I'd feel guillty if I had one. But I really really wannty one. CIgarars dont countr ight?
Ah. And I'm guessing a minor Harm would open wounds? Just checking.((GM, what would a curse do?))
It's an inversion of a blessing, instead of giving a bonus to rolls, it will give a penalty.
I wouldn't be a very involved whatever I am if I didn't.As posted in the terrified thread, Hanslanda has been threatened with PRISON.
-_-
US Drug Court, I am dissapoint.
...
Suddenly, I kind of want to take Xantalos' post to the happy thread and say, "Whoa, people care."
The ending is sad because it goes so far in the opposite direction it might as well have just looped around. We're not going to get to that point without more or less inverting politics all at once. It's all the australium.
On a less serious note, because Australia ends up with space elevators and everything great in the history of ever while america turns into a giant lawsuit-inundated mostly-craphole made up of money and clay-based building material.
American Justice System. They deny your logic and substitute their own.Fortunately, Adam Savage hasn't been corrupted yet.
I think I'm going to reread Finishing the Fight. Because nothing says enjoyment like a novel-sized fanfic crossover between Halo and the Forgotten Realms.Which Forgotten Realms are these again?
That is better than the picture I had in my head but also far worse. Why would they think you deserve to be in prison?Judge threatened me with termination today....What does termination mean? Because I have an even more horrible picture of the US justice sysytem than I do now.
Termination means I would no longer be on Drug Court. It means I would be in prison. I have til the 20th of February to prove I don't deserve to be in prison.
And the other way around too.Fast food restaurants inside coal mines?Eeh...more likely coal mines behind the counter of a fast-food restaurant.Or behind the counter at fast-food restaurants.Except, of course, for the fact that you're now guilty of homeworkicide.Which is punishable by a life in the coal-mines.
