I have no doubt; however, the Thing can use technology also and can probably adapt to radiation. Anyhow, if we're to keep discussing this we should go somewhere else, maybe make a thread for it and stop clogging up the terrified thread.

I survived the depths of /tg/ and managed to find a thread discussing the implications of The Thing in Warhammer 40k.
In essence, good things.

Use robots if you must.
Wait, it knows technology. Use psionics.
Do you have those yet?

Found an inconsistency in the first post. It essentially says, 'They said the dwarves were trapped in time. They were wrong. They were actually trapped in time.'

The Thing can't have the 'hoomans survive because tuff' card played on it because it IS humanity. Plus, it would be a while before it would be found out, if at all.
The moment a single blood test happens.

That moment.

Bang bang, humanity shot my alien down...
Wait, what happens in a blood test? Do doctors stick hot needles in blood for fun or for practice?

*becomes humanity*
In essence, I don't doubt that governments would mass incinerate the populace, but the thing is that The Thing can't have the 'hoomans survive because tuff' card played on it because it IS humanity. Plus, it would be a while before it would be found out, if at all.

Make ends to the void.
Reach out and fuse two ends together.

He could have had a flamethrower.
Or a pistol that shoots flamethrowers that shoot more flamethrowers that are permanently on and have infinite amounts of fuel!
Hey guys, stop scaring The Thing! I'm letting it stay with me until it can arrange transport off-planet and it still has a fire phobia.
Tell it that the fault only lies with itself. If it had been intelligent and invaded one of the many bases in the arctic without flamethrowers, as opposed to the two that DO, it would have taken us all over by now!
It was just trying to prove itself better than the carrot Thing from 1951. I think it succeeded. Besides, it's just going for a while, to assimilate something fireproof, and come back and assimilate everyone.
Except for me; it owes me now.
