Really bad. To inefficient.

What you need is a bi-polar spirit, and make them have an existential crisis every time they reach heaven and Hell. The swapping of spiritual polarity will then make them bounce back. Have it happen rapidly enough, and you can conduct some serious chi. In my case, I have turned a spirit into an A/C supernatural motor.

2. I make copies of files and programs all the time and I never once stopped to wonder “What if there are magic parts inserted by ancient gods that aren’t being copied?” and no one else does either, so one wonders why we would start asking that when copying persons.

Biologically, it's a carbon-copy; but adding the possibility of souls existing and so forth (don't want to derail this into a whole religious debate thing, or worse), and each soul is unique, how can the soul be copied as well?
