Darren kinda loses it for around 20 seconds, pounding the replacement desk while hollering incoherently. He stops at some point, and notices that it didn't break or anything.
And then recalls what he kinda heard the teacher and Torrimus say.
"Uh. Sorry about the screaming, I shouldn't have done that. The gloves became kinda precious to me because they stopped me from hurting things, and to see one of them gone ... I'll have to get some new ones or something.
I don't know why anger of all things would control it, though. I've been really happy before and still ... still broken things. Why negative emotions?"
He awkwardly shuffles back to where he was sitting, embarrassed by the whole screaming incident.
That said, the other one spontaneously dissolves upon that realization.

Darren slowly brings his hand down onto the desk, muttering 'I won't break this' over and over again.
The desk rapidly splinters and cracks down every conceivable fault line in the wood the moment his hand contacts it, only accelerating faster upon his startled recognition of what's about to happen.
One moment the desk is there, whole and good, and the next it's a cloud of splinters heading everywhere except toward him. Wood chips and dust rain down everywhere, leaving Darren standing there, a little in shock.

As for me, I don't really know what my power exactly is, but whatever I touch breaks. I wear these gloves to stop it, but I think it's a psychological thing more than anything, they aren't made out of anything special. Haven't even tested out what exactly I can break through, I've been too frightened of hurting someone ... well, more than I already have.
I break things and I don't know much more than that.
