General Discussion / Re: Things that made you sad today thread.
« on: May 22, 2015, 01:51:20 am »
Shitballsdamn, Soli, that's some heavy shit to have to go through. My condolences with handling the aftermath.
Think personally the thing that'd really help with cases like these is changing the public perception of mental health. You still see people sometimes who say that depression is just people being lazy, or that PTSD/schizophrenics are 'wusses who need to man up', etc. It's rare, but it's not as rare as it should be.

Maybe start by featuring people going through that sort of thing in movies and TV shows and stuff. I've seen a few examples in popular movies, like the guy in American Sniper and maybe Iron Man 3, but it could be expanded.

My sads, which are really minor in comparison to Solifuge's situation but I still wanna post just to help get it off my chest: tonight work was fukcing exhausting, to the point where I thought I was gonna faint at a few points. I really have no idea how people sustain themselves through so many years of retail jobs beyond employing Stannis-like grit or somesuch.

In some early versions of Genesis there were genital parts that you could beat people up with, although they didn't do much damage.

Possibly the most underpowered of the factions in 40k, despite having a god that's outright omniscient as their leader.
Somehow.

On that lore note ... it could possibly happen after the fight, which is a good time for it since he wouldn't be able to try to kill her then.
I suppose it kinda depends on how well each respective 'team' works together, since both can inflict significant damage but it depends on how well they coordinate.
Actually, I don't think we're the best people to speak on this since we're both biased as hell towards our respective characters - not a bad thing, just a fact. We should get someone who's outside the current situation, like maybe PN to rule on it.

Nothing wrong with specializing; I'm pretty much the best person to shout it's praises after all. All Tömas has is his faith in himself and his morals now, forced to hide within the body of another in order to even fight.

4855
Depends. She definitely does have the advantage in age and volume, but at the same time, Tömas wasn't made one of the generals of humanity's entire military during the Spiral War when he was 10 years old for no reason - he's frighteningly powerful when it comes to Spiral energy.

S'alright, I know your confusion.

One of my close friends had her appendix get really inflamed today, which is understandably a bad thing. Fortunately it didn't burst or anything, but it was still a stressful experience seeing her writhing around on a hospital bed because her painkillers had worn off.
Fortunately she's getting it taken out in a short surgery sometime today, but ... shit that had me panicking.
Also the experience only exacerbated my infatuation for her which has been affecting my thoughts more and more of late, so that sucks too - I'm transparitexting this because it's not really relevant to the emotion of the thread.

The Eldar have it pretty bad in the 40k universe, in fact they're shafted in an entirely special way since there's an actual chaos god after their souls after they die unless they get siphoned into a craftworld or become harlequins, while the dark eldar presumably have it even worse and have to resort to progressively more absurd and cruel methods to stave off slaanesh.

Wait. Eldar die, then become Harlequinns? I thought being a Harlequinn and anything else in that branch was just another Path.
No, s/he meant that if they become Harlequins then Ceogorach protects them, not that they become harlequins after they die.

Yep. Backstabbed Balthazar Gelt, the incarnate of metal, in the back, while he was working a ritual to stop the planet being destroyed from a warp rift coming from a broken Old One artifact under Middenheim. Teclis tried to take the wind on, but got disintegrated from the strain. Everyone then died.
Also all the incarnates were kinda biased toward being elves. There was Cardrayan (elf) for fire, Alarielle (elf) for life, Grimgor (Orc) for beast, Malekith (elf) for shadow, Tyrion (elf) for light, Gelt (human) for metal, Sigmar, (fukcing Sigmar) for heavens, and Nagash (undead) for death. That's what, 4 out of 8 Incarnates being elves? Kinda dumb, especially since the Slayer King was the Incarnate of Fire at one point, and a badass fire wizard dwarf is just too cool of an idea.

Sounds very Mass Effect.

End times finished with (I believe) a chaos sortawin.
Chaos outright won in End Times, but that's just because GW went full chaosboner and had Mannfred fucking Von fucking Carstein backstab the Incarnates and destroy the universe because he was a whiny little bitch.
Also because they made a giant no limits thing with Chaos there anyway and blergh. End Times isn't really worth considering in my opinion.
