And yeah the Battle of Terra's definetely going to get a shit-ton of coverage - just as the Heresy was the biggest event in the Imperium's history, so the battle of Terra was the biggest event in the heresy, and the duel between father and son was the biggest event in the battle.
Man there were so many awesome moments in that from what I vaguely remember.
Hmm.
D'you happen to know which book started off the series? I'd like to get into them.

Checking sources from teh internets, yeah it was a device that amplified psychic power that Emps MacGyvered into a preservation device when he got beaten up.

The Golden Throne was the initial gate in the Imperial Webway project where the Emperor was basically building his way into the Webway so that humans wouldn't have to rely on shitty warp travel.
Or it was going to be before Magnus fucked it up and caused a demonic incursion that the Custodes have been fighting for the past 10,000 years.

You forgot to mention the Old Ones, but I suppose you could argue that most of them got killed by the Enslaver plague which wouldn't have existed without their created races (mostly the Eldar, the Kr/Ork keep their warp emissions amongst themselves fucking around with it.

Additionally, given how much better an Imperium that didn't lack all understanding of it's tech, was a fractured hellhole held together only by faith and hellfire, and has no massive weak spot in the form of the Golden Throne would have done, I choose to believe he just fucked up.

He wasn't wise at all. You can just look at how he treated quite a few of the Primarchs, namely Lorgar and Angron.

Hey, my son's formed a gladiator rebellion against the armies of this planet! But they're outnumbered, surrounded, and about to be killed. Looks like he's formed a strong bind with his comrades and refuses to leave them, preferring to die rather than abandon him comrades.
Better forcibly teleport him up to a ship leaving all his friends to die, that won't leave him angry and bitter towards me!
