The cops screwing with stuff and being incredibly corrupt isn't really new news, sadly, but the reason I'm so worried about the corruption also spreading to lawyers is that it will make it all that harder to contain. Even at the moment it seems to be practically impossible to deal with.From hearing Truean talk it isn't a matter of spreading.
It's a law project that is supposed to help protect the population from terrorists. One of the main complaint about it is that it defines terrorism in such a broad way that pretty much anything could be could be considered as terrorism. Some are afraid Harper will use it against rioters and environmentalists. Honestly, I wouldn't be much surprised to see him do it, considering his tendency of abusing loopholes and being a dictator wannabe in general. I agree that it is depressing.Ah, so it's the Canadian version of the Patriot Act?
Well, brain backups are already possible, right? And this should still be more fun than just placing a "saved state" behind on the Sword - you're taking your ticket to resurrectionland with you to the warzone!I think I'm the only example of brain backups so far, and those have had unspecified consequences I'm about to find out.
But mostly I'm wondering why "active" distribution is possible and readily available, while "passive" (which, it appears, should be easier to accomplish) might end up unavailable or at least even more expensive than "active". Metagame reasons notwithstanding, of course - purely from in-universe POV.
