DF General Discussion / Re: Awesome findings in Legends Mode
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:38:01 pm »
I remember I read about on dwarf who was attacked by a dragon at age 15. He lost his eye but was able to escape. 5 years later he got married. That same year he got both legs mangled by a hydra rendering him unable to walk. Then 3 years later he was kidnapped by a werewolf and infected.

The last thing it said was that he was reunited with his wife and mother

DF Suggestions / Re: Dwarven Interrogation, prisoners

Everyone is talking about goblins and kobolds being interrogated and what not and how it wont work.

Goblins and kobolds arent the only civs, we still have humans, elves and dwarves.

Perhaps humans would give up money for their prisoners back.

Maybe dwarves would offer steel equipment.

What if elves offered exotic animals and food.

I dunno, needs alot more planning

Thanks, and another problem: So I embarked on a volcano but the summit is really high. Im not sure if pump stacks can bring stuff down

Is there any way I could bring the magma from the summit down safely for my magma forges?

I would just mine the side of the volcano but I dont want a dead miner this time

How do I increase embark points?

I need to buy some good armor and weapons for roleplaying purposes but I have nowhere near enough points. I read in the wiki that increasing embark points is possible in advance world gen but it doesnt say how to do it

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: To kill a deity

I tried killing a diety once. A skinless skink clown that fooled the largest city into worshipping it. When I looked up its clothing, it had nothing but elf bone and teeth accessories.

Before attacking and condemning myself to die there, I went to recruit some brethren. One axedwarf and, as I traveled to the top of the keep, I found a lone elven archer in the very corner. Hiding, waiting till that dirty skink bastard went up there to massacre him. I honestly felt bad for the elf so I receuited him and with my two brothers I attacked the skink.

On my first strike I lodged my iron spear into its left leg sending the guy crashing to the floor. As the thing was wriggling on the floor, I tried bashing its skull in. I was sad to see my brave adventurer miss and get counter-bitten in the spear-arm with poisonous venom. As I layed there succumbing to the necrosis, I watched as the skink god crawled towards my axe brother and fractured all of his bones before the dwarf bled to death. Then, with a few dozen arrows lodged in his upper body, the thing crawled to the archer and in one swift strike, bit the poor elf's head fracturing it and killing him.

After that my adventurer's brain rotted away. After a bit of training I plan to return to finish the job.

Yea, I started as an axe-using demi-god. I entered the nearest house of the town I embarked on and as I entered, I saw a kobold miner fighting a fisherman and a farmer. I thought that was fairly odd but I helped them anyway. After severing the kobolds head those little human punks started attacking  ME. A child that was on scene sliced my left ankle tendon sending me to the ground. Still, After severing their heads, I left the house(not being able to fast travel I had to crawl my way out of the town as I was hostile now). As I left the building Kobolds and humans were EVERYWHERE. While they fought each other, I tried to sneakily crawl away. To my dismay, one of the denizens fighting the kobolds was a crossbowman who spotted me. He sent one bolt that pierced my neck sending blood dripping down my body. As I finally crawled away from that town, I ended up bleeding to death from that arrow to my neck

What just happened?

Ok, thanks.  Personally bow users have been pretty useful (usually make sure I have one or two) for weakening the target or slowing him down for me. How do I get a "named" follower?

So Im not the best adventurer, in fact I just started playing this mode last week. Earlier today, for the first time ever I got a quest to kill dragon. Now you could imagine my excitement only on the way there goblins ambushed me with this gigantic army. And I died. And this happened to me again on another file.

How do I avoid these things?

I once sent my miner to break through the first cavern. As soon as he did, a giant cave spider attacked him and the miner entered an endless cycle of paralysis and sleep. So, realizing hes gonna die, I left for other business and 5 minutes later, hes still alive. Apparently the miner turned into a legendary wrestler (I have no idea how he did so fast) and then punched the spider's abdomen off and walked off with nothing but oozing blood from his arm and right after continued to mine

Whats wrong with encrusting furniture? I usually encrust my crafts or furniture while the real valuable stuff is on the side for my moody dwarves
