Uhh, Jimmy, this thread isn't about literature and its interpretations, it's about cutting orcs to pieces with axes and figuring out the mechanics of letting players do that.

If people want to do the comparative lit stuff I'm not completely opposed, but that stuff can pretty easily veer into version comparison argument and the like.  I agree that if people aren't turning  such discussions into hate parades it's not problematic on it's own.

I just worry about letting things wander too far afield, I've seen and experienced some pretty apocalyptic arguments over what seems pretty innocuous at the table, including death threats from people holding knives.  That obviously colors my perception tho' and that's why I'm asking what people think.

What part of "Contrary, rebellious Yank" are you having difficulty with?  If we had any interest in doing the same things everyone else does we'd still be part of Britain's terrible Commonwealth.

Seriously though, metric can die in a hole, it is in no way better than Imperial, everyone just complains because we don't do it their way.

That sounds like an extremely subjective viewpoint to me.  After all, without any measuring tools at all I can still use imperial to perform important tasks.  It won't be precise, but using the second joint of my index finger for an inch is a hell of a lot closer than "I think that's about three centimeters, but I don't have a ruler".  And gods help you if you're trying to approximate anything larger, the distance from my wrist to the base of my bicep = 1 foot is much more reliable than whatever you would use in metric.  But to be completely fair, your whole measurement system originates from a point exactly as supposedly arbitrary as ours, after all, the base unit is the 'meter' of a man's stride.

Sincerely: a contrary rebellious Yank.

So, I'm not sure exactly how I want to handle this, considering how the last time it blew up a bit.

I sort of feel the above conversation is a bit outside of the thread's scope, and while it isn't version comparison or anything else I've straight up said isn't okay, I feel like it might be skirting that same territory of inflammatory things that are only tangentially related to PnP games.

If people are generally okay and don't make big multi-page discussions I'll just back down on these kinds of things, but I just wanted to try to let you guys know how I feel about these sort-of-PnP-but-not-really things.

Please, no one jump down anyone's throat, I'm only trying to feel out where the line between too harsh and just enough is.  And maybe my definition of tangentially related is wrong here, so let me know where you think this stands.

There's a 'lost' leviathan spawn in that area, and it can roam pretty far, I've seen it march all the way from greencoast to the bonefields.

When you reclaim a fortress all of the items that existed on the map when you abandoned are scattered.  This includes items from down in the caverns, even unexplored portions.  It's a bit buggy and is still very much a work in progress.  It is also possible that any hostile units that were there when you abandoned are still present, but that isn't an absolute.

Getting just a bit off topic.

I've been drawing up a campaign for a few years that features the prophetic return of an ancient lich who once terrorized the world by using his dark magic to deliver toys to children each year on a particular night.  Someday I'm going to run it during November and December to exemplify just how much of a grinch I really am.

The only requirement for removal of a limb is that it suffers cutting damage, this depends on what settings you are using in the options menu but generally what happens is that a limb is reduced well below zero and then takes cutting damage and is removed.  Almost every weapon deals part of its damage as cutting.  So you are half right, blunt damage can't de-limb people, but since there are basically no weapons that deal only blunt damage, there is a chance for limb loss whenever you have a crippled limb.

Blocking also buffs dodge by 20 points.  What I like to do is set my fngs to block, put them in the heaviest high-coverage armor I can afford then let them get beaten into the ground until they hit 30ish block or dodge.  After that they can defend themselves pretty solidly and start leveling up attack.

I'm half tempted to believe that the nameless poster who keeps responding to A Spectator is a sockpuppet being used to drive the tension even further.  At the least I'd ready a warning for A Spectator for the blatant spamming (but I'm not a mod and I wouldn't really want to be one).

I think I generally agree with most of that.  I believe that the intent of fading out the other details was to emphasize Cio and Allison directly, but it seems to have backfired somehow.

It is also amazing how two people have turned the comments for the last page into a sea of fire.

I think that may be part of it, but there's also something with the composition of the page that seems a bit strange, it is very distracting to me and I just am really unclear on why.

I really like the way Abaddon played the double bait and switch here tho', it was a very cute way to play with reader expectations and I think it fit very well narratively and thematically.

Once again, I'm not talking about the story part of it, I am talking about the conscious structural framing of the past two pages, from an artistic standpoint.

Something about the panels itself is what feel "off", and I'm not even sure what it is that makes me feel that way, it like the buildup is drawn out in a weird way and the payoff resolves one panel too quickly.  I can't explain any more clearly because I'm not sure what elements of the two pages are even throwing me a curveball.
