I'm looking for an embark with a good cavern - fairly open, several z-levels high. Multiple cavern layers would be great too. I can deal with an aquifer I'd prefer not. Materials for steel would be a plus. As for the surface, I'm flexible - I'd like a river. I prefer lots of trees. But whatever.

I'd love to build something like the amazing Rhymedmansion- a fortress focused around the caverns.
Do you want enemies, or giant animals/animal men, HFS, or just peace to build?

I'm flexible. I'd prefer middling-dangerous territory. I like neighbors for war/trade.

I'm so glad for these recent updates! I think Rhymedmansion is one of the best-looking forts out there. Any chance you'd upload the save for us to mess around with?

Guys, I'm having a problem with stonesense and I haven't been able to find any solution by searching the boards.

I'm using the PeridexisErrant's StarterPack. When I try to run Stonesense, the DFHack window says:

Loading script at PyLNP_dfhack_onLoad.init
Error loading script
nil

The Stonesense window opens, but just shows a light blue screen. The upper right corner says 'No map loaded'. It does this for any fort, even a brand new one in a pocket world.

Any idea what I can do about this?

Edit: Also, when I've tried to start Stonesense, DF works normally - except when I try to exit the program. Then, it freezes indefinitely. I can play with the (nonfunctional) Stonesense window up; I can save the game and return to the menu; but when I exit the game, it freezes.

I love this idea. While I have no trouble playing with the basic ASCII graphics or with the various available graphic packs, I think opening up the graphics to modification would inevitably lead to some excellent community-produced graphics. And having an easy-to-understand, visually pleasing game brings in more players, more income for Toady, and hopefully more and more development of DF.
