I thought we moved past this. Finns don't fear death, because living in Finland is already like death, and hell sounds comparatively nice: at least it's warm.

You have to threaten them with something worse than death: having to talk to people. This is why the Russians couldn't defeat them. But America? All we'd need to do is just broadcast some friendly conversation at them and they'd flee.

Plus, there was that whole war with Korea...

Finland has a Monty Python song devoted to it.

Yes. She was from California.

I don't quite get what you have against Finland. Is it its high standard of living? The excellent education system? The superb welfare state? The awesome vistas?
The Finnish.
This. Imagine a race of people who make Russians and Swedes seem like warm, touchy-feely types (i.e. Italians and Greeks). Finns are the gold-standard of antisociality. What is it about warmer weather that makes people aggressively friendly, and what about colder weather makes people want to hide in a corner if it means avoiding talking to people?

A conversation had by a Finnish expat (or an expat finn? It was on www.expat-finland.com)
Quote
"Yesterday marked 21 years since I arrived in Finland."
"Did you celebrate with a beer and a sausage?"
"No. I've become Finnish. I told no one. I sat in the dark in silence and thought about herrings."
"That's the spirit."

Hell, even www.visitfinland.com (not exactly an unbiased resource) supplies this: “An introverted Finn looks at his shoes when talking to you; an extroverted Finn looks at your shoes.”

Yeah, but this has been going on for like 8 years now so I'm reasonably sure Mad Cow Disease or CJD would have been fatal a long time ago and probably have had other symptoms.

It's definitely a symptom of depression, but it's a thing that's affected me for close to a decade now, whether depressed or not.  I wonder if going 2-3 years with significant chronic sleep deprivation can cause permanent brain damage.
Should be noted that extended periods of insufficient sleep (not even complete lack, just insufficient) can cause irreparable issues. IIRC your memory can become worse and you become more ADHD-esque.
Well that's just fine.

Who needs memory anyway.

Damned Finns. They should know better than to make dumb suggestions to Trump by now.

If you do this again we're going to come in and, talk to you!

Lech, Czech, and Rus. I don't know what areas you need to own though, it doesn't say in the achievement blurb

Lick chick and rush

You need: Poland, Bohemia, Galicia-Volhynia, Ruthenia, Chernigov, Vladimir, and Gard(weird norse d)iriki, which I think is Novigrad but I'm playing the old gods start. In other words: all the slavs but those south ones who don't count I guess.
No one cares about us south slavs, which is fine because we have our own portraits now so we don't need none of you stinkin' northerners.

Anyway, I finally have time to play. So... what in the blue blazes should my first game of Holy Fury be? Too many options... What's fun and has unique content, but isn't completely baffling? I might just go South Slavs just to marvel at our portraits, but I'm concerned that there isn't much content that applies to that region (no catholicism, the imperial government type only applies to byzantines, etc.)

But no fucking dragons, yet.
Precisely.

When the adult mod comes out and you can seduce the queen scorchbeast, then the game will indeed have fucking dragons.

Frostpunk endless mode out next week!

I am now a happy penguin!

The more I learn about the chaos in NYC the other day the more my mind boggles. The entire damn region was crippled by six inches of snow. And I really do mean crippled. Cars straight up not moving, like scenes of people fleeing the path of a hurricane. The number of 6, 8 hour commutes home have been unreal. I mean shit, we've handled 24 inches more gracefully than this 6 inch storm. I haven't seen traffic this bad since that plane crash in 2006.

I mean, I'm really grateful I wasn't in the path of the storm and am learning all of this from others. But still, what the hell went wrong?

Fucking dragons, huh?
The lack of mods means no, at least for right now. Check back in a year.

Saruman left the city beautification committee out of his plans.
He left the MTA out too it seems... man I was in the city for an appointment and it feels like I dodged a bullet: the entire damn city is reeling from six inches of snow. It's unreal. We've been able to withstand multiple feet of snow in the past with far less disruption, but somehow six inches has caused chaos. Train delays, a thirty car pileup on the George Washington Bridge, bus crashes all over, students stranded... it's been actually insane. You'd think we were the deep south with our level of unpreparedness, but we get this every winter.

I mean, I think one reason for the trees is that most leaves seemed to still be on the trees pretty late this year, and when the snow came down (wet snow, the kind that clumps together) and came down fast, it seems like it knocked them down by sheer weight. Still though, feels super bizarre, especially knowing the city has survived much worse weather conditions with far less disruption. Every single department head and politician is pointing the finger at someone else. Oh well...

So apparently there's some new Slavic Union Empire or something? I saw it alongside discussion of the equally new Oultrempire (also, dear god paradox, alt-history flavor is my favorite).

@Beard, I personally really dislike having a beard, but I'm sure if I let myself not shave for more than two weeks I'd essentially look like... let's go with Ivan the Terrible.

I didn't expect humblebrag toilets and cryptotemporal currency scams, honestly.
A toilet for the well-endowed though. The perfect gift for the men in your life who just need that extra space when they do the do.

Does he ever get a basic understanding of type matchups in later seasons?
From what I hear, it depends on the season. XY seemed pretty good about it I think, Ash was teaching others so he got to be competent-ish.

Also, there is SO much tree damage around NYC today from the snowstorm yesterday. If you walk down a street with more than like two trees (which is most of them), you see somewhere around three piles of broken branches per block. An entire damn tree was uprooted not two blocks from my house, and my mother was even there to witness a different downed tree right next to our building. And Union Square park was just straight up closed.

It's insane, I don't even think Hurricane Sandy did as much damage to the trees.

Is that William Henry Harrison on the bottom left? It feels like William Henry Harrison. Him or van Buren. I'm like 75% sure.

Frumple's back, quick, someone sing. "Hellooo from the other siiiiiide..."

Seriously, what's up mate, we were worried about you (less so since you updated us, but the long absence afterward was still concerning). All the luck to you persevering without the net. I remember not having internet for a while as a kid. I played a lot of videogames.
