DF General Discussion / Re: Future of the Fortress
« on: June 11, 2013, 01:24:19 pm »
IMHO I like the way it can ebb and flow between two or three ages.  That sort of mimics revivals of certain knowledges/cultures, dark times due to war or pestilence, etc.  I do, however, lookforward to procedurally generated possibilities as well.

I look forward to the day when I may embark my ninth fortress in a lineage, destined to shape the world for the good of Dwarf, to be told that we are now at the dawning of The Third Age of Dingoes.

And, of course, the DF canonical answer is: to kill elves.

What is the unit of measure in this birth date?  Will this mod10 function change everybody's birthday to only once every ten days?  Or is it hours?  Millifortnights?  (Must convert all of these to the fff system of measures for a mod one day)

I don't think the Syndrome system can grow body parts, yet.

However, I like the idea of editing the prefstring of items for personal amusement.

Litast likes quarry bush leaves for thier ability to put beard on your neck/chest.

So, whichever Kobold comes up with the job assignment is doomed.  The RNG, she is a cruel mistress.

The overpowered nature of Crossbow bolts isn't often argued as their ability to hit or be dodged.  What is most frequently argued regarding Crossbow bolts is that they strike with energy roughly equivalent to a planet-like object large enough to maintain its own atmosphere rapidly approaching the event horizon of a gravitational singularity.  Their mass is too high, they leave the crossbow at a constant velocity(energy? impulse?) regrdless of mass/density and a small handful of other physics "assumptions" are made in their calculations which could be handled more cleanly.

... I also have created a race of sentient golems that I can play if I am feeling particularly cheaty (adamantine skin and bones, steel for nearly everything else; molten lead for blood, faster than average learning rate, and lack of skill rust, alcohol dependent), ...

So, it's part of the Futurama Mod, Bender Pack.

In REACTION_SMELTER I bump up the product amounts of Bituminus Coal and Lignite to 12 and 8 respectively.  It seems that when the drop rate changed in the last updates, the block production was updated with it, but not coke returns.

Also [EDIBLE_COOKED] to blood.  Because Black Pudding.

Using a computer, to emulate emus, to emulate a computer.

Win.

I love Bay12.

So true.  I like to make my nobles into Foodies; cooks and brewers.  I figure they're just sitting around eating, drinking and socializing anyway.  They may as well have Foodie "hobbies".

Something like:

Udim McCaringMother, Legendary Speardwarf, has lost an alcohol-bag-chest-mass to a battlefield injury.

Litast McHungryGrowth, Baby, has been malnourished lately.

...(1 year later)

Litast McHungryGrowth, Child, has grown up scrawny!

Funny!!  But not supported by the currently SCIENCE.
