To set your mind at ease, yes, I did see it.  No, I don't know how to fix it.  I'm getting my head wrapped around some modding, but haven't gotten deep enough into the data structures for things like that yet.  Srry.

Hauling and burial are not necessarily the same.  Do you have burial set for everyone too?  I don't usually, once I'm past the first couple of migration waves.  I don't want my Legendary Brewer risking his vomit soaked beard to pick up a recruit's unfortunate carcass after a seige, just in case there's till an ambush lying in wait.

Inasmuch as collision physics, yes, it's there.  Is there room for refining that process?  Sure.

Those collisions physics are what cause a falling kitten to knock the teeth out of the unfortunate dwarf undrneath said downward flight path.  Likewise, Combat announcements of:

Creature X has collided with Creature Y, sending Creature Y tumbling to the ground.
Creature Y skids along the floor, the Third Finger, Right Hand taking the full force of the blow.  x29


There may (likely?) be further fine tuning to this as the speed/combat split continues.  Not a guarantee, mind you, but a pretty natural fit, one might think.

I am quite pleased with the current development.  Even though he's been regularly going several days between devlogs, it seems like each log he posts he has already roughed out one of the major new features.  I am so excited...this release is going to be EARTH-STRIKING!!

Or, just do what I do in these situation, Long Wall Mining.  Yep, just like real life coal mining.

Once they're exposed, you can safely dig without cancellations, so when I'm under a pond or something, just designate row at a time.  Lather rinse repeat.  Not at automated, but generally safer anyway.

For that matter, you could easily have stated that PIG meat frequently contains parasites that are harmful to humans.  Trichonella anyone?  That's why we cook it.

Now, if the parasite in questions happens to leave a particulary nasty toxin in it's wake, ala botulism, well, that's a different story.

I guess the only  way to find out for sure it put it on the menu of the Dwarven Daycare Center and see who survives graduates.

But, look at the bright side.  You have 140 Vampire dwarves that don't need food, booze or sleep, are immortal, don't have children and are PERFECT for now power leveling trade skills or military conscription without having to worry about baby sheilds!
