Life Advice / How to not get runner over by people
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:09:47 pm »
So I had a conversation with a trusted friend and he's pointed out some subtle manipulation people have used on me to get ahead.

For example: One guy helped me to in math only to later ask me later "hey man can you do this for me?". I agreed but I felt like a Pack mule and was later kicked out for failing to go to a meeting. One meeting.

At work I thought I had been part time associate. Apparently, I was just seasonal/temporary. Since I'm sure as as heck I was part-time I asked but the manager just said something along the lines of "oh I meant to sit down with you about that but you weren't scheduled.." and "thank you for your service.". That service one still irritates me tbh. Thus job was just retail and I'm only 20 but...ya.

My mom constantly tries to find reasons to not allow me to go where I want despite having a 3.31 out of 4.0 in college. I know it's just a B but come on..My brother never even attempted college or working after high school. Can't I have the Damn car? It's only fair plus he's the one that gets the tickets not me.

Have I been duped or am I over thinking things?

For over 5 centuries have Humans warlords expanded upon the entire world over. Dwarves meanwhile continue to live isolated in their mountains and feed the human war machine with glitter rocks and weapons. The Elves have been unified under the commune of an Empire and have elected to keep everyone away from the rich woods and forests they inhabit.

Well no more. These lands were taken from your fellow Goblinetes and Orcish fellows long ago and the great King Uzmak fought hard to protect this land. But ever since Uzmak died the tribes have fallen into complete dissaray with petty chiefs fighting amongst each other until before anyone knew it we were in the wastelands scavenging for whatever possible. The Dark Gods have offered you power to take back your land and your peoples pride. An you accepted it knowing one day your should will be theirs forever.

Who are you and why did you take the once in a life time offer?

General Discussion / Investors club's?
« on: December 21, 2014, 02:29:29 am »
So I've been thinking to buy stocks ( or parts of a company) for some time now. One of which is the store  I work at and coca cola. I'm looking to keep my money their and make a few hundred dollars in dividends a year.

Then I stumbled into the idea of investor clubs from Google but the one's in my area deal with real estate and others with "CANSLIM" investing methods. That last one just sounds like a ponzey scheme.

So any helpful advice on investor clubs?

P.s I'm only 20 and still doing my aa in college so I'm not attempting anything ginormous like spending thousands on stocks.

Life Advice / Paying for college
« on: December 02, 2014, 01:37:32 am »
Hello fellow bay 12ers,

I'm currently having my FAFSA pay for everything in school ol. I have tuition and books covered and even a little extra I'm.saving. I have a part time that gives me pocket money every week on Friday ((48$ a week.)) And I'm still living with my mom who cooks.

However, I want to move from Miami to Washington to attend university their. Why? Because I don't like party schools and want to get ahead. Plus Florida is not exactly  the place to live in unless your retired/retiring which is kinda good but if you want too be out of a town house and into one where the walls are yours alone, then bad.

When I told my friend about it he said it'd be good to see me leave but, that uni is expensive. I'm his words "unless your last name is Bush, Clinton, or Kennedy your going.to have debt. Lots of debt."

I heard that destroyes lives alot. So my question to the grads are: "Can college be paid for without taking up debt?"

I'm thinking about a psychology or economics major but haven't decided yet.

For years you have fought on behalf of the Church of Novistrania and the Kingdom of the Nords against the Demonic invasion of Emperor Gulcasa and his cult allies within the country. The Final battle you remember was very chaotic as the Nords mustered all of their strength to attack the mobile Fortress Gulcasa but traitors within the ranks sabotaged massive amounts of specialized seige equipment and ladders forcing the Nords to send in only the best fighters. The King Himself chose and led the Elite Teams of Warmages, Battle Priests, Paladins, and Hardened Auxiliaries. The Auxiliaries helped get the Kings foces inside where they battled and overpowered Gulcasa himself. The King however, was mortally wounded by Empress Justine The Drider who threw a Poisoned Javelin at the King which impaled your Leaders stomach. She later escaped deeper into the Fortress where she was never seen again.

The Kings son, Crown Prince Nante took the Throne at the young age of 6 with his mother the Queen of Nord as Regent of the country.

The Queen is known to have been the more hand on ruler when peace was with the Kingdom and was also for a time the Spymaster for King, who has decided that you are to a lead secretive order to hunt down Cultist and Capture their leader Empress Justine The Drider.

Character Sheet is as follows:

1. Name
2. Gender
3. Occupation: You may choose to be a Warmage, Battle Priest, Paladin, or an Auxiliary.

Brief run down of the different classes.

Warmages specialize in magic and spells. They are also known to be part of many secret magical circles that only other mages know about. Rivalries between these circles is well known and it is proven that some circles openly supported Gulcasa because he himself was once a Warmage of high caliber. Warmages are constantly scrutinized by the Church and it's Battle Priests who carry out writs of inspection and sometimes execution. You will have the power, allies, rivals, and enemies.

Battle Priests specialize in combat with maces and holy cloth armor that prevents Unholy possession and mitigates attacks by those of tainted blood. The Priesthood is constantly in war with itself over doctrine and while you will be the Head of a Secret order you will have to play the religious politics of the church and it's Bishops. You may also be asked to carry out a writ on Mages who are suspected of heresy or by lords who would want their children blessed. The Job of the Priest leaves little left to be done.

Paladins are an order onto themselves. Holy men and women who take up the heavy holy armors and seeks justice against those who do harm to the innocent or corrupt thy neighbors. Paladins serve as the main infantry and calvary retinues of the Kingdom and are proud of their Martial abilities. They also have the power to close up cultist portals that let in demons along with battle priests. They do however, act independent of the Church of Novistrania. It is to be said that any who retire from the Order of Light must reside in a monastery for the remainder of their existence as to prevent them being captured by enemy forces. Paladins are by far the most celebrated heroes of the land and it is difficult for their presence to not inspire help.

Auxiliary are the conscripts of the land. You are the peasant who farmed or fished who is pressed into service to fight for your Lords. Auxiliaries are known to have do just about everything from setting up siege equipment, helping prepare spells, fight, clean up the camps, and die. This is the only profession that will not include outside duties like the above.

Life Advice / Internships
« on: November 20, 2014, 07:40:36 pm »
When it comes to internships does it matter if they're unpaid or not? Are they so helpful that not getting paid is fine because later you may just be able to work full time?

Any stories and opinions are welcomed. :)

Life Advice / Remembering dates
« on: November 20, 2014, 01:08:28 am »
How does one get good at remembering dates for things?

Example: Remembering Thursday @ 3:00 PM being at such and such place?

My friend was a Student government president and he was able to do this every single day for 2 years. How can i get on that level? Not that i'm doing the same thing mind you but remembering interview dates/meetings would be good...

Life Advice / Self esteem
« on: November 08, 2014, 01:14:44 am »
I've been having problems with confidence in myself lately.

For starters I've always thought of myself as smart and knowledge but I recently had to withdraw from a math class because the Fs on the test were not going to let me pass. ((Withdrawing makes it so your gpa does not get touched.))

Another thing is that I'm 20 almost 21 and I've never had a relationship with any girl above friends. My step mother has said that my looks are fine but that my approach needs work, Something my Dad agrees with. I just don't know how to get better at it and I don't want to be seen as creepy an have a restraining order on me...that'd just suck.

I'm not suicidal and I don't think I'm depressed but I do feel like I'm in a slump. One that I've been in having many times in the past. Any advice from the good Samaritans out there.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Second Rebellion
« on: November 04, 2014, 09:30:56 pm »
Welcome to the Beautiful island (People's) Republic of Chak. The Country has always been rich in Minerals but devided by culture and ideology. It was conquered by the Russian Empire, absorbed into the Soviet Union, broke away from Soviet Union through a mostly peaceful process of Independence, and then came the first rebellion.

The first Rebellion fought the disorganized (an some argue non-existent) Confederate Government. The leaders of that Revolution came to known as the Red sons, an were led by Mihail Korbachav. Korbachav and his new Government created a efficient yet brutal central government that genocided tribes who resisted their rule, adopted compulsory work camps for "troubled individuals", and propagated themselves as saviors and heroes through a propaganda schooling system. 5 years ago Korbachav died of type four cancer that was in his stomach and was succeeded by his Vice President Lenin Boyle. Under Lenin, National Elections were cancelled the old administration purged and martial law caused the deaths of hundreds around the country. All of which happen to be members of the Security Forces or Political Elites.

No one is sure exactly what happened and State news sources have been restrictive even now about the events. They still say there was a attempted coup by Lenin's rivals who wanted to seize power for themselves.

Your  mother and Father (the lord watch over them) were picked up by said security forces one day when you were returning to school. Life Advice / Lying
« on: October 21, 2014, 09:47:54 pm »
So recently I've made errors in ny life and I've told an awful lie. My mom is a bit crazy and a control freak at times but I've made her out to be worse to thus one friend. He's caught me lying once but I think he's either forgiven or tried to look past it. I feel I need to say something now rather than let this blow up later in my face...

Should I tell him? Also does anyone know the traits of a compulsive liar or pathological liar?

Forum Games and Roleplaying / The Prince's Retinue
« on: October 09, 2014, 03:20:58 pm »
It's been over a year since the Orcs and Goblin men came. They came from the island chain of Mordath lead by the Great Warrior King Osgoth the Humiliator. They landed thousands of ships with pike wielders, axe users, berserkers, Crossbows, and they're dreaded Necro-Shamans. They're numbers are disputed but some say that the beaches those days were a tide of Green, Greys, and bloody red from the fighting.

They laid siege to many coastal towns and pillaged surrounding lands. They used men, women, and children as slaves to do domestic works and killed mercilessly for breaking down due to exhaustion. One day, according to legend, Prince Raynor deemed enough was enough and ordered a counter attack that saved the capital and re-took our lands. Some say it was too late however, almost half the kingdom was dead and our resources were dwindling due to over work by the slave drivers. King Lorin, Prince Raynors father, was getting too old at the age of 52 and many speculated he was too close to death. His Crown would pass on to Prince Raynor but many had doubt in there hearts that the young prince could keep the country together and defend us from a second invasion. A second invasion which everyone knew would come but no one knew when.

The Kingdom Of Asgard is at it's most critical hour but man's nature is still the same. Other Human warlords now look greedily at this opportune moment to seize lands they covet. Elves Remain uncaring and seem to only care about empowering their minds and own defenses. An the Dwarves still refuse to leave the Mountain home for fear of the outside world.

Asgard needs heroes and Heroines and here i stand at the Gates of Lorin War College. It use to be only for nobles who would send there sons to become Generals but by order of the Prince and blessing of his father has it been opened up to older warriors like me. After passing the Basic Examinations i am now able to pick to be:

A) An Officer in the Fragmented Army of Asgard. The Army was always medium sized but its efficiency are still stories of legends. Now It needs to be stopped from disintegration to banditry or starting a coup by the ambitious puppet nobles and corrupting warlords. The King and Prince Alike are very worried about the future of the army.

B) An Officer in the mostly sunk Asgardian Navy. The Pride of Asgard was it's Grand Navy who use to sail the world in less than 3 days. But the Orcs, an there dreaded Necro-Shamans broke our Navy time and time again. Old failed admirals seeking to hold there positions are actively sabotaging newer officers. The Prince has stated before that he wants to Re-Invent the Navy but political capital is hard to come by.

C) A Member of the Black Rangers. These are the men and women who assassinated many captains of Osgoth's Army. With less leadership the orcs and goblins lost morale when heavier forces fell on them. They are still very intact and are loyal to the prince. Many nobles respect and fear there power though and no one is sure what there goals really are...except the guiding hand.

D) Apprentice ship in the Order of Phoenix. A magical order newly minted by the Prince's edict. The stated mission is to create a counter to the Necro-Shamans black magic and unbalance the battlefield in Asgard's Favor. Phoenix mages work alongside other mages and the army but they don't have any rank structure and there is no real leader yet, which is why the Prince himself is the "Grand Master" as of now but rumor has it he doesn't teach classes rather delegating to other mages.

Character Sheet will have a..

Name:
Gender:
Background: (It must at LEAST have what the character did before the invasion. (No vengeance story needed since no human likes or tolerates orcs at all.)
Age: 16-40
Social Class: Commoner or Noble. You can even be a Dukes son.
Choice: What did you study after being accepted into the college?

((Also I'll still be working on my necromancer SG alongside this so please don't be discouraged from playing both.))

Creative Projects / Suggest a book
« on: September 24, 2014, 07:42:55 pm »
Just a thread i thought i would make. I've been away from reading fun things since high school and haven't been able to find anything in my local library. Care to suggest something to me fellow bay12 members?

Also the only book i read over and over again was "Rifles for Watie" and "phantom of the opera".

((funny story about phantom of the opera. i didn't know plays were still a thing until i asked one of my teachers off handedly. I still facepalm myself whenever i think of phantom of the opera.))
