1.What's considered an offensive vs. a supportive addon?
2.What are the grades of armor, effectively?
3.How effective is radar?
4.Does heavier armor slow you down, or simply make you louder/easier to spot?
5.Does the Wombat come with leg boosters/jet pack on it's own?
6.Do any of them come with weapons/does the Armory have weapons?

added numbers for better overview on the answers.

1. Supportive addons help the user or anyone else in a non-combat way, like boosting the healing rate, scanning rate, radar strength, etc. Combat addons assist the user in anything combat related, so things like accuracy increase, damage increase, etc.
2. The 'Traditional' grades of armor go from no armor to ultra heavy armor. Suits go from light to very heavy. There are also misc. armors like the warp armor of the Psy suit.
3. It depends, but the core idea is to give an general understand of what lifeforms there are in the area. There are different kind of radar addons to increase the variety you can detect E.G mechanical units, stealthed units and so on.
4. Both, though easier to spot can have different meanings.
5. Yes
6. Yes, but you haven't gotten to that part yet  ;)

((Hooray, it ain't dead! Just a couple of questions before I get an action together:
1 - What are the addon slots for, and can we put anything in them yet?
2 - Does the telekinesis suit have all the encumbrance of Heavy Armour?
Thanks.))

Yes........ not dead... yet....

Anyhow.
1. Addon slots are slots where you can give the suits additional functions or upgrade it's existing functions. Let's say for the Rhino suit, there is an stabilizer addon which enables you to now stand on rough terrain or the grappler addon which gives you the ability to siege upside down, on walls, etc. As of the moment, there is one person with addons. Namely the dude which found the hacker addons ( Forgot name).

2. No it does not, it's the same as having no armor in weight. ( In theory, you could be used as a one way projectile then. :P)

BTW, if anyone needs some clarification on certain subjects like... "How much do the armor grades reduce? Or What else can my suit do?" then please ask. I will eventually write it and add to the discussion thread, but maybe you want to know it earlier.

Note 1: Don't forget about the discussion thread! Any questions, doubts, whatever can be answered there!!!
Note 2: Back from the dead! For those who are still interested, do whatever you want. Those who don't want to, please let me know so i can let other willing people in.

Toss a crate into the bubble, then after seeing what happen, head to the ship
(-): You walk over to some other other crate and grab a small object, followed by a throwing it into the bubble. The object flies at normal speed until it hits the bubble, where it is slowed and starts losing momentum. A slowing field? Could come in handy.

Having learned what this device does head to the ship. The terminal is still on, with the AI activated and all the travel locations revealed.

Dwarmin(Kathryn Fry)
Being done with the ship for now, Kat backtracked and joined the steady procession to the armory-as she would find out, it was probably a good idea to get suited up...

After locking herself in the chamber, she began tapping away-three suits interested her the most-the Medic, Research and Radar suits...all of which she believed augmented her natural skills.

Action: Head to the armory and check out the EVO Medic Suit 'H2' AND EVO Research Suit 'Old' AND EVO Radar Suit 'Freq'..

OOC: Taking alot of logic jumps and multi-actions here, assuming Kat would just go the armory and figure out whats already been presented in turn. Tell me if its okay Mr. Zero.
(): Seeing everyone enter the armory, you think that you should head there as well. They enter the chambers, so you follow. You feel a sharp sting in the neck and a terminal pops up, you quickly figure it out as you tap in the information of the suits "H2, Old and Freq".

This idea just popped up. I don't know if anyone did this already, but...

Have there been 2 RTD's, run in the same universe with interaction between the players of both RTD's?

If so, how did it work out or how would this work out?

Roll To Dodge / Re: The Libram: Additions Thread
« on: April 24, 2013, 08:22:53 am »
Seeing that it's difficult to swap monsters and rollcharts from one game to the other, we could make an entire game for someone to use. Something like a ready-made D&D adventure, complete with basic storyline, monsters, rollcharts, etc. New GM's could use it to kickstart their GMing experience so that they have a concept on how a game is run. Seeing that many of the posters in this thread run awesome games (I'm not saying me :P) so we might be able to make a basic setting. It doesn't have to be an entire game.

I got one, but i have to scramble everything together.

276
Choose Support.

You already know every suit in the support type, look at previous turn. So maybe a little bit more specific?

277
NOTE;Everyone knows every suit type which is discovered to this point and in the future. This is to speed things up a little. You do not know what the suits do. If someone discovers this, then it will be shared amongst everyone as well.

Mini-turn 2.3.1: Oh the choices!

Head into armory and look around for small weapons and engineering equipment.

You enter the armory, like Doris and Kurtis, you see the same thing that John saw. However, you don't hesitate going yourself into one of the chambers.

You press the button, the chamber closes itself and you get a sharp sting in your neck.

''Choose suit type.''

Combat suits
Support Suits
Mechanical Suits

What should i pick?

278
I reposted my action an hour before you posted the turn.

Ah, pardon me. I posted something myself while i was typing and it said there was 1 new message, i assumed that it was my own. Il get on it.

279
Why hasn't my gun turn up in my inventory?

My bad, i will fix it right away.

where is tio Volatis in relation to the galactic map or do we not know that yet?

You don't really know the exact position, but if you red the intro story. It tells you the planet is at the edge of the human space.
'at planet far away from Earth at the edge of human space'

If you ask Aurora, she might tell you.

To answer note 3, I think the organization is okay, but maybe have the Tio Volatis be under the player individual actions to make it less confusing what is going on. Also if there are player actions that you don't want others to notice, use a spoiler. These are my only suggestions.

I could start hiding things, but at the current time it's not necessary at all. Spoilers surely wont stop people from reading the contents, because i read every turn of everyone as well :P

About the first thing, i will keep it in mind.

Scapheap(Clair Adams)
"Guess there only one way to find what it does, everyone stand back."

put the device in my palm.
(-):

"Stand back! I'm performing science!", is the phrase that goes trough your mind. However you are not very sure, that this will go smoothly. You take the device, it starts glowing as seen earlier.

With a firm hold, you point it at one of the crates. You feel around the cube for any buttons, but find none.

"Oh god, what am i supposed to do?", you think.

Then you remember, the thing that Kathryn said about knowing the knowledge but not remembering it. You focus, and strange transcripts pass your mind.

"None of this makes sense.", so you focus more. The transcripts change into whispers, the whispers are still very vague. But you feel something happening to the device, like it's charging.

Very slowly, the whispers start making sense.

"Time..... Slow.....Bubble...."

Those are the 3 words, you keep hearing over and over. It doesn't make much sense, but you think that the device can slow down time in a small radius.
You keep repeating those 3 words, until you feel the device firing something. Afterwards it stops glowing.

Looking at the projectile, it's very slow and resembles a transparent light blue bubble. It hits the crates and 1m around the crate a thin bubble appears. You have no idea what it could do, but you have some guesses.

Dwarmin(Kathryn Fry)
Kats mind was buzzing with dozens of astral navigation treatises and transorbital maneuver manuals, and she closed her eyes a moment-letting it all sift through...

When she opened them again, she remained laying on her back-it was all still there-and though she had never flown a shuttle before, all the knowledge was there...just waiting to be used. But now there were other things, as well. Faces, voices...rising up from her past life. Becoming as clear as if she had just been around a week ago. Mostly bad things...but good things...and mostly, she didn't want that right now. So she got up with a grunt, arching her legs, and rising to her feet in a single smooth leap.

Hmm...she certainly couldn't do that before...

She went back to the control panel, typing quicker now. The formerly arcane buttons, dials and levers flew expertly in her hands.

"So Aurora, you mentioned other...Races. Here I am, thinking Humanity is still alone in the universe. Can you list down the major ones we might encounter out there? Any ones to avoid in particular?"

Action: Question!

Also, try to recollect destinations and cross reference them with Aurora, figuring out where exactly we have a choice to go.

():

Having rested for a bit, you get back into the shuttle. However you spot something just under the chair, you sat in. You grab whatever it is, and it's an AI core! You take a seat and type in the command Aurora suggested. Before you a huge list appears, so many possibilities!

Earth
-Research Base Aqui
Kars
Nova Corpus
Banes
Hio
Terxul
Hiveworld
-Hive Colony 1
Mi To Daris
Royaltis
Kondya
Qoldak
Xel Mora
Krogandis
Gholtyn
Tarsonis
-Teryonis
Machinum

(The map is available in the discussion thread, which is accessible at the first post, rules tab. Also, the ones without color, are races which i forgot the standings. I will update it later.)

"Aurora, which of these places is the safest to go?"

"Green locations represent planets where humans are kindly seen or the race itself is allied with humans.
Red locations represent planets which are very hostile to humans or are currently at war with the human race.
Orange locations represent planets where humans are not very welcome, or hated. But not at war.
Blue locations represent planets or places, which have been manually entered by someone. There should be an option of looking up the person.
Yellow locations represent, neutral locations which have no true opinion about the human race.
- represents a location, inside the territory of that race."

penguinofhonor (Doris Finnegan)
Go into armory after Spaghetti7, examine area.
(-): You walk into the armory just as Kurtis is enclosed in a chamber. You're not hearing any screams of agony, so it seems he is still fine. You see the same thing that Kurtis saw, except that one of the chambers is now closed.

Spaghetti7(Kurtis Blake)
Kurtis winces at the sharp sting in the back of his neck. He wants to ask the others about this, but isn't willing for that to happen again.

Look at the Mechanical and Support suits. Don't pick one yet.
(-):

You feel at the place where you felt the sting. There is a cable there, connected to the neck input which you've discovered earlier. You guess there is some logical explanation for it, but you still feel uneasy.

You push in both the 'Support' and 'Mechanical' buttons, 2 lists appears before you.

Mechanical suits:

EVO Cyber Suit 'Bit'
EVO Engineer Suit 'Delta'
EVO Radar Suit 'Freq'

Support suits:
EVO Medic Suit 'H2'
EVO Research Suit 'Old'
EVO Psy Suit 'telekinesis'

Out of curiosity, you press the research suit. Promptly another windows appears, showing you information about the suit, how it looks like and 2 buttons. 'Back' and 'Try out'.

You wonder what the try out button does.

[For detailed information about a certain suit, please state so in your next action and i will get working on it]

Rolepgeek(Johnathan 'Hefter' Hennson)
"Okay Jill. I think we need to catch up with everyone now..."

Head to armory with others, peek in at shuttle if it's on the way.
(-):
You don't want to stay behind, so you make haste to the armory. Underway you take peek in the shuttles and see Kathryn, figuring out some stuff with Aurora.

'She'll be fine'

In the armory you meet Doris, which tells you that Kurtis went into one of the chambers. You see the same thing that Kurtis saw( Previous turn).

Meta gaming!

You cannot possibly know the options of the armory, until you either
a. Enter it yourself
b. Someone who has used it, exits the chambers and tells you about it.(which i write automatically)

Edit: so change it and repost it as fast as possible. The next turn will be up by then, however il make a mini-turn for your action.

Turn 2.3:The armory

Note 1: Don't forget about the discussion thread! Any questions, doubts, whatever can be answered there!!!
Note 2:What do you think so far about the RTD?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Tio Volatis

"Alright Kathryn, acknowledged. Proto Humans, are a product of human and ancient alien dna splicing. Apart from having all the normal human characteristics, it is unfortunately unknown what else proto humans possess. Though Doctor Staal has theorized that proto humans, can in theory, operate the alien devices without any trouble. Something that generally requires years of research or some very rare and exotic particles. That's why he took the wager of creating , you.

You are potentially the worlds most dangerous weapons and most valuable commodity that any race would want to have. That's all i have access to from the database.

About the shuttle, yes there are automatic destinations. But they are not set. I cannot access the shuttle at the current time, but if you type in destinations, it should show a list of possible destinations. Also, you do know how to operate this shuttle. That data was injected into your mind during your wake-up sequence.

But you cannot remember it, because you are suffering from cryo-amnesia. However, if you focus, you'll remember."

"Kurtis, the device is from unknown origins. It's properties are unknown and it is a alien device from nature. The database suggests it's an artifact."

1. Player Actions

Scapheap(Clair Adams)
"Okay, let see."

Look for some rags to pick it up with so it doesn't glow. Ask Aurora about it.
(-): You look around for some rags and remember that Johnathan found a labcoat earlier. You kindly ask him if he can tear the pocket of the coat and he does.

This time you pick up the pyramid device with the rag and it doesn't glow.

So it works on touch. You decide to wrap it in the rag and take it with you.

You gained Strange device.

Dwarmin(Kathryn Fry)
Kat resisted the inane urge to start jabbing buttons, instead speaking to the AI.

She adjusted the seat with a small smile, which was as good as claiming the craft for herself.

"Aurora, do you suggest anything that we should do or need to do before we leave this place?

Also, I'm interested in what we heard earlier...what exactly is a proto-human? What is the extent of...our changes? Exactly what was the intention of our re-creation in the first place? I'll understand perfectly if you can't answer me exactly, due to lack of knowledge or programming, whatever, but any help would be nice.

I don't feel very different at all, I mean to say.

And finally, weren't there supposed to be automatic destinations set into the shuttles? How can I view those? Can you give me a rundown on how to fly this thing?

...you can call me Kat if you like, instead of subject, too."

Action: Questions!

Try to get a basic feel for the shuttle controls and systems with Auroras help.

(): [look at the Tio volatis Tab]
Focus eh? You take a deep breathe and think. You look at all the handles and buttons that are there. Then it happens, you remember. All the memories start flowing in, image by image, you learn how to operate the shuttle. Afterwards you have a major headache and feel like having red a couple of hundreds of books.

So you decide to lie on the ground for a while, while the pain goes away.

penguinofhonor (Doris Finnegan)

(-):

Spaghetti7(Kurtis Blake)
"Woah. What do you think that's all about?"
Listen to what the AI has to say about the thing. Take a glance in the armoury.
(-): [Look at the tio Volatis Tab]
Aurora wasn't that helpful with that, but it's time to check out the armory.
You walk to the iron door, you imagine rows and rows of guns and equipment. When the door slides open, you are surprised by a medium-sized room with a few cabins. In the cabins are terminals like in the cell room.

You are surprised but there is probably more than meets the eye here. You step into one of the cabins and look at the terminal.
There is one button there, 'Start Sequence'. You push it and the cabin closes.

You can hear a hatch opening from the back, quickly you feel a sting in your neck. Followed by a large variety of holograms appearing, holograms of weapons and armor. The holograms stop when a list appears on the terminal.

"Pick suit type."

There are 3 Suit types, Combat, Support and mechanical.
Combat: Suits in this category are meant for combat use, thus have often increased armor, movement, tracking system and a variety of other things meant for combat. However, these suits often lack supportive abilities.

Support: Suits in this category are meant for supportive roles of combat suits. These suits have increased utility, energy storage and a variety of other things meant for supportive abilities. However these suits lack the heavy combat abilities of the combat suits.

Mechanical: Suits in this category are a mix between combat and support, they offer the nice things of both combat and support suits, but to an lesser extent. Suits in this category are meant for specialists.

Rolepgeek(Johnathan 'Hefter' Hennson)
"Uhh...I don't really know what the colors mean. How about this. Green for yes, red for no. Blue for you don't understand, maybe? Can you glow blue? And if you don't have a name...I'll cally you Jill."
(-): Shared turn with Persus13/ Together you start solving the mystery of the Jellyfish colors. You both start asking the jellyfish questions. The jellyfish responds in the same colors as earlier, so you aren't getting anywhere.

Suddenly James got a idea, he borrows some food from Kathryn's jar and offers it to the jellyfish.  It glows pink-red, he repeats it twice and the results is the same. James draws the conclusion that color pink-red means  'To like something/someone, or happiness', James tries the same experiment but with some random items that are not food. The jellyfish responds 3 times with green. The color green means, 'Not interested, don't like, or maybe don't know.'

After that James runs out of idea's on how to test the jellyfish further, but you do get some idea's.

You point at James and asks. 'Did he give the the candy bar?', the jellyfish glows red. You point at Kathryn which is lying on the ground, 'Did she give the candy bar?', the jellyfish glows red. You then point at yourself and repeat the question, however this time the jellyfish glows blue.

You assume that red means 'no' and blue 'yes'.

So you think that the colors go as following.

Blue = Yes
Red = No
Pink-red = Like/yummy
Green = not interested/ curiosity/ ??

Persus13(James Macalroy)
Exiting the shuttle, James walks towards Johnathen to help him out. "Hey, askit a question you know it'll say yes too, like are you a jellyfish? and she how it responds."
(-): Shared turn with Rolepgeek.

Turn 2.2:Man, i cant think up a title :P

Note 1: Don't forget about the discussion thread! Any questions, doubts, whatever can be answered there!!!
Note 2:What do you think so far about the RTD?

Tio Volatis

Nothing here folks.!

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
1. Player Actions

Scapheap(Clair Adams)
Look in the opened crates
(-): You go and take a look in the crates. One crate contains food, one crate contains clothing and one crate... a device?

There a multiple warning labels on the crate but no label where it mentions the name. The device is held in place by a gyroball like system, so it seems that the device is worth something or very important. The device is small enough to be held in one hand and resembles a pyramid.

Dwarmin(Kathryn Fry)
Kat walked over to the shuttle-ships, running her hand on the hull.

She felt a certain sense of wonder, she knew was misplaced. In these times, such tiny ships must be common-but to her, it was new. It was the stars that were calling...to explore.

And what was space but another sea to sail upon?

Action: Investigate the shuttles and their interiors, learning about how they work. Ask the computer for any help I need.
(): While James sits in his boss chair, you study the rest of the shuttle. The ship is made from a different metal than the base itself, it's actually quite large from the inside and you find a few emergency kits containing food and medical supplies. Though your attention is quickly taken by the console which just finished booting.

"Name destination course..."\

eh... you decide to not call out any names yet, it might accidentally start.

penguinofhonor (Doris Finnegan)

(-):

Spaghetti7(Kurtis Blake)
"Well, that wasn't too stressful, was it?"

Kurtis takes a look at the crates in the hanger. If it's nothing interesting, he moves to the armoury.

((I think the whole organisation of this thing is nice. Can't think of anything I'd change))
(-): You nearly leave when Clair finds a device. Together you discuss what this device could do, but unfortunately you have truly no idea. You then decide to pick up the device, and it's responding. By starting to glow in between the crevices in the device.

You quickly put it back and it stops glowing. You didn't feel anything change while holding the device, but who knows.

Rolepgeek(Johnathan 'Hefter' Hennson)
"Nice jellyfish...friend?" the large man slowly gets out over his nervousness. He should probably catch up to the group. "Well...do you have a name? I'm John. They call me Jacob. Can you come with me?"

Try leading Jellyfish towards rest of group, and talk to it.
(-): You want the jellyfish to follow you and it does. Surprisingly it just sticks it's tentacle on your shoulder and floats with you to whatever direction you're going. Underway, you try to talk to the jellyfish.

"Can you talk?"
The jellyfish responds by glowing slightly green.

eh.. Do you have a name?
The jellyfish glows red.

Since this is getting no where at the moment you decide to finish by asking the final question.
Are you hungry?
The jellyfish responds by glowing pink-red, just like earlier.

Apparently the jellyfish does understand you, but you don't understand the jellyfish. The way of communications, is very... basic. If you only could decipher what the colors mean.

Persus13(James Macalroy)
Walk to a shuttle. Investigate if it needs repairs, has tools, or anything dangerous aboard.

(why are we going to the armory again? Aren't we supposed to be off planet?)
(-): With Kathryn, you inspect one of the shuttles. Kathryn is already inside the shuttle, investigating the interior and the contents of the shuttle. You however, take a seat in what looks to be the captain's chair and activate the console. You see all kinds of data flash before your eyes, but you manage to read the following things.

Fuel...100%
Ship integrity...100%
Engine status... Ready to go.
Automatic destination... Not present...

Kathryn quickly joins you, after the console finished booting.

"Name destination course..."

You are immediately asked for a destination course.

Eh. You decide not to screw around, cause maybe you'll accidentally activate the shuttle.

Turn 2.1: Me... Friend.

Note 1: Don't forget about the discussion thread! Any questions, doubts, whatever can be answered there!!!
Note 2:What do you think so far about the RTD? Please answer it in the discussion thread.
Note 3: What do you think about the organisation of the thread/posts/turns and are there things which you would like to see different?

Tio Volatis

Everyone walks to the Hangar, while John i stuck with the Jellyfish and Kathryn goes to store some of the goo stuff.

Upon entering the Hangar, you are immediately greeted by the vast size of the Hangar. You clearly see 3 ships, ready to take off. Aurora says that those are the escape shuttles.

At the other end of the hangar, you see with big red letters and a warning sign. 'Armory', that's where you probably should go to. There are scattered crates in the hangar, 3 of them are opened.

1. Player Actions

Scapheap(Clair Adams)
Clair stop

"Yeah is the glowing normal?"
(-): You happen to hear what Aurora says and your worries go away. The Jellyfish is now John's problem. You walk further with the group.
[look at the Tio Volatis Tab now]

Dwarmin(Kathryn Fry)
Kat laughed a bit.

"Don't worry guys, the computer says it's harmless to humans-apparently it likes sweets and makes friend easily, and only stings if it wants to. Also, that weird goo is some sort of medicinal balm. Since it's glowing like that, looks like you made a new friend John."

Quote
Analyze finished.
The substance name is unknown, it is organic from nature.
It's a high concentration of water, and plant enzymes.
THe substance contains healing properties, to be specific.
Rubbing the substance over a wound will enhance the healing rate.
Ingestion is discouraged, but if ingestion happens there will be no lethal side-effects except vomitting.

....
Name unknown substance?
Y?  N?"

Noting the information, she tapped in an answer.

"Y. Let's call it Kolto. I'm such a nerd...

Request further analysis. How long can this substance be stored and in what are the best conditions?"

Action: Possibly backtrack and find some sort of jar or container to store the Kolto in.

Otherwise, move on with the party when ready.

(-): You tap in the new name name and...

"Substance name added to database, please synchronize the device with the nearest link to permanently save it..."

You tap a few buttons requesting some further information about the substance.

"The Substance nicknamed "Kolto" by doctor ???.
Apart from having medicinal abilities, the substance is quite temperature proof.
Analyze tests show that the the substance remains good from -4 C to 40 C.
If the substance dips below -4, the substance will start forming ice crystals, which will destroy the remedial abilities.
If the substance rises above 40C, the substance will start evaporating water. Leaving behind the rest of the chemical components.
The residue is toxic if ingested in any way.

Analyze tests also show that with some minor modifications the medicinal effects can be enhanced. This requires a bio-technic lab."

(5!): Now that you know more, you actually would like to store Kolto for future use. You quickly run back to the animal chambers. The room still has the sinister look like before.

You start looking around for any containers and manage to find some glass food jars in the lower cabinets. You take 2 smaller jars, one is half full with some kind of animal food and the other one is empty. You take the the half filled one, in hope that you can see more responses from the Jellyfish.

Returning to the group, you see John. Which is still busy with the Jellyfish and he mentions that the group moved forward and found the hangar. You fill the empty jar, half full with Kolto.

You gained 2 jars, 1 half-filled with food, 1 half filled with Kolto.

penguinofhonor (Doris Finnegan)

(-): You walk past the Jellyfish with the group.

[Look at the Tio Volatis Tab now.]

Spaghetti7(Kurtis Blake)
((I guess we can all hear what the AI is saying))

"If the computer says it's harmless, I'm okay with that. Let's carry on."

Walk past the jellyfish, albeit carefully.
(-): With the jellyfish being occupied with harassing Jonh, you carefully walk past the jellyfish.
[Look at the Tio Volatis Tab now]

Rolepgeek(Johnathan 'Hefter' Hennson)
"Why is it glowing? Guys?"

Back up slowly, watching as the jellyfish grows nearer...
(-): Afraid that the Jellyfish will do something, you start going backwards while watching at the jellyfish. Though, when Kathryn tells you that the Jellyfish is harmless and that it actually likes you. Your worries go away, but you still have an uneasy feeling. The Jellyfish is now right beside you hovering slightly above your chest height.

The Jellyfish moves one of it's tentacles towards you..
Ahh..
The Jellyfish starts touching you with the tentacle... it kinda feels like snake-skin and the jellyfish still glows pink-red. You get the mental image of the Jellyfish saying "Friend... Friend!"

Well, whatever happens now. I don't think i can get rid of the Jellyfish.

Persus13(James Macalroy)
Ignore the jellyfish, and continue moving forward holding my metal pipe.
(-): Like Kurtis, you ignore the jellyfish and walk further.
[Look at the Tio volatis tab now]
