Nothing is creepier than a unicorn.

What about a bicorn?

Im afraid of acorns myself.

A corny joke.

Could also be that the guys leading the siege are infact alive and the zombies instantly try to kill them which leads to a loyalty cascade among them and they leave. Which means its tied to the fact that necromancers with thier zombies sometimes join civs/armies. (perhaps even related to when animals join armies and get ranks)

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Gremlin Tears - Where do you stock these?
« on: October 26, 2014, 05:16:26 am »
A dwarf recently made a masterwork food with goblin tears in it. I didnt even know it was possible due to it being from a sapient creature. Have been unable to reproduce it so starting to think it was a strange bug.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your longest fort?

15 years or so in an glacier with only 15 dwarves. Made loads of wealth but few dwarves ever came due to its remoteness.

I rarely play more than 5 years in successful forts anyway.

DF Modding / Re: Why doesn't this creature spawn?
« on: October 24, 2014, 08:42:53 am »
You probably should start with a an uncivilized creature as previously said if you intend to do one. Specially since you seem to want a badass creature with building destroyer 2 which humans def arent outside of civilization (just look at the pathetic bandit wrestlers). Really most vanilla animal men are generally quite weak unless they are based on a dangerous creature such as a tiger, badger or a black mamba. Annoyingly the recluse spider men are pretty dangerous because of thier venom unlike the very small spider its based on which is so unlikely to bite you it practically never happens.

Also I recommend reading through the creature token list in the wiki if you want to mod, simply because it might teach you something and inspire you as well.

I'm not sure about sapients. In a previous version, I was able to butcher so many Goblins that I had 500 Goblin bones. Unfortunately, I haven't attempted to butcher Goblins since 40.xx came out.

You cant do that without modding. With modding you can butcher everything except the race you are playing in fort mode.

Sometimes you could end up with ridiculus stuff like prepared honey bee intestines because of it at embark... not sure if that bug is fixed yet.

Ive always wondered if dwarves clean off magma from their bodies when temperature is off.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Horrified by what?
« on: October 21, 2014, 12:42:29 am »
Its either evil biome weather (I got the a LOT in my dwarf blood rain biome where the rain seemingly did nothing except scare the dwarves stiff randomly) or more likely he has ran into the vermin he hates. Sometimes dwarves are horrified because of it. It might not even be the actual vermin but an item or engrave with it on.

We arent here to indulge you.

That said a terrifying evil glacier embark (with still connection to the civs) and no traps. Resurrecting yetis and polar bears are extra fun.

She's not actually the oldest dwarf in my fort, my carpenter has her beat by a year.

Vampires lie about their true age?

This is true. Thats why it often says "they have the appearance of someone the age of ..." instead of the normal way of just saying the age.

There is a dfhack cheat to check for vampires as well, but I dont recommend cheating. It does make the game boring when you remove all the obstacles.

Aaaaaand now she's mayor.    :(

Thats pretty common, its because the vampires have often very high social skills compared to the average dwarf, many over 4 is very common on vampires. They also often have a collection of low other skills and often one higher than usual.

Another extra clue is to find a vampire is to look for white hair. Seems to me many vampires have white hair due to thier long age.

If you are hauling from outside you can dig a small tunnel underground to it so that they walk underground as far as possible.

Depends on the enemy. Against necromancers or enemies with breath it might be worse. Considering the breath could be extremely lethal and quickly end everyone that doesnt evade it and civilians dying against zombies quickly get raised by the necro doubling the trouble.

Also if you get one of those very rare proper goblin sieges (do they even exist anymore... :( ) with several cave dragons and legendary fighters then untrained dwarves will be minced.

Make wood spiked balls, they are extremely overpriced like all trap objects and wood is a material which is quick to haul plus abundant as all hell since the trees produce so much more now.

Seriously the serrated discs and spiked balls have base value of 126 which is far more than anything else. Its a bit too good even.
