I would look into the world rejection article on dwarf fortress wiki if you got problems with world rejection. I almost never have.

I think theres a parameter for how much erosion there is, you should probably change that one and the one with X, Y on elevation.

Its much harder to get a volcano next to an ocean though, Ive never gotten that. Atleast not within an acceptable embark size.

Never, that would also destroy the point of playing on a volcano wouldnt it?

But, it is good that his sacrifice was not in vain in that you found Adamantine though.
Dont need adamantine as Im playing on masterwork and I have welded mithril armor on everything plus extra welded wolfram hammers, Im also working on bifrost and iridium. To top that off I got few legendary soldiers. Masterwork doesnt mod magma behavior and the miner didnt have any fireproof leather though so its not related to masterwork.

Care home. A royal bedroom with access to the finest in dining and entertainment facilities available. Sparring with Dwarven kick/bite/beard fighting practice.

I didnt know dwarves could fight with thier beards. Must be quite a sight.

So I just had a strange occurance. I was channeling right next to the top of a volcano and somehow the dwarf caused a cave in on the tile he was on. He was pushed aside and proceeded to fall down inside the volcano. However he didnt die instantly. He sort of just floated slowly down in the pipe all the way down, which was atleast 80z levels. He reporting everything he saw, including: the last cavern, the pipe that was in it, candy and the magma sea. When he hit the bottom of the magma sea he just vanished. Seems to me like falls after a cave in is behaving a bit strangely or perhaps its the same for falls in general.

I once had a dragon burn down my heavily wooded forest. Was out for a season then loads of trees had grown again. I had two caverns which where completely flooded and one which was empty except for few shrubs.

Since Ive been playing masterwork Ive gotten one strange cult which turned people into animals at random. Had three animaldwarves before I routed out the leader and crushed him under a bridge. My fort almost died on the tantrum spiral that was imminent though.

Stunning the fliers makes then stop flying and they can drop to thier deaths if they are high up enough.

Pretty much all of my forts end to intentional magma flooding or suicide by clown a few years after founding because I get bored. I am too uninspired for this game.

Play masterwork and you can die on many new things.

The worst weather is the thralling weather. Instantly kills your dwarves/animals and turn them into a very strong zombie version. Ive had forts die to one single thralled cat, due to it getting very strong and spreading the thralling because of the dust that was on its skin.

It is not advisable to do this with dwarves who have lost the ability to grasp on both hands, or who have lost the ability to walk.

Maybe someone can request wheelchairs and false mechanical arms and hope that toady adds them in a few years.

Only in mods do doctors actually do anything worth being a noble for. Applying splints, bandages and cleaning wounds are important, but thats not why you study years before becoming a doctor. Aside from that they dont really do anything and to top it off most dwarves are shit at doing whats needed to keep them alive on time. Finding a doctor who cares for ofter people and does whats first on his mind is actually pretty important.

I cant really pick a single one hmmm... Autodump feature on dfhack, bridges removing everything under a.s.o. Although I dont very often use these features, they can help a lot in some cases. Ex: when you dont really want to care about those 300x goblin clothes or refuse which reduce your fps.

Discovering the masterwork mod perhaps, havent really started playing it properly yet though.

If you type showmood in dfhack it shows you everything you need to know about the mood. It sometimes helps if the dwarves are asking for something and there is no way to tell what it is. Ex:Perhaps they like gold, but the bars they specifically want arent gold bars at all. It also shows the workshop.
