Kaito gets one of the Pizza MREs, making sure it's piping hot and smelling of delicious Italian sauce with aromatic cheese along with perfectly cooked pepperoni, he flings the thing into the cave, the Primevals makes more horrified noises as something came flying into their cave very quickly and splats on the floor before them, scattering the large ones that's been screaming at you for a little, but after a moment of nothing too bad happening, they cautiously return back to putting themselves between you and the rest of the group,

One of them pokes the Pizza piece with a long, thin stick, and when the steam raises from the pizza they made startled noises and scattered again,

It's hilarious, really.

They look furry white-furred bigfoots, or a Yeti, if you want to connect them to Earth. You see them living huddled close together for warmth near campfires that they made, the circular rock formation keeping the fire from spreading too far. And they seems to have gathered a stock of firewood, there are like, three dozens of them in here in total, one third of which are youngs clutching the smaller Yetis that makes up another one third of the group, with the remaining one third being noticeably larger and more muscular.

Looks kind of like this.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It certainly seems like they came home, Vigil's glowing Visor betrayed his position, and the natives starts making horrified primeval noises.

The smaller two-thirds of the group quickly huddle together for protection as the larger ones grab stones from the firepit or sticks or anything they can get their hands on, really, and start flailing their arms at the direction of the cave's entrance where Vigil is at, making loud noises and floofing their fur up to look larger and more intimidating than they actually are.

Everything packed and ready, the squad waste no daylight in heading back. The travel back were cautious and you were sure to not speed, going at a comfortable cruising speed on your overloaded Snowmobiles.

By the time the sun begins to dip and your stomach begin to ask for Dinner as snacking on energy bars for lunch wasn't sufficient, you can already see on your HUD that the gate location is near. You can already see the cave entrance, and your screen detects light and warmth coming from the cave. As well as the lazy smoke coming from it.

The evening rolls on, everyone have their MRE packages in the environmentally-sealed Tents and then rested for the night. Watches are switched every few hours and nothing terrible seems to be happening,

Morning arrives and it's time to pack up and travel the last leg of the way towards the Gate and head on home.

Stella takes stock of the MRE, which isn't worryingly low yet. With you arriving at the Gate tomorrow, this 4 days worth of engineered superfood for the squad should last. And even if one of the snowmobile crash on the way there, and you split the food half/half on each mobile and all of that half were to be destroyed in the crash, you'd still have another day and a half of food left for walking the remainder of the way home.

So far you haven't seen any yet, and presumably you did pack a few dead moths for samples.

The squad makes a good imitation of Indian motorists as they travel overloaded with stuff and people, short of a Snowmobile.

So far the day's travel had no problem along the way, and you made good time, comes evening your stomach are all groaning and protesting for the missed lunch and demanding extra large dinner, and it's time to hunker down and tent up.

The Snowmobiles park close together in the great, open wasteland of snow and fuck-all.

Soon, the battered snowmobiles are loaded up.

It's going to be a long journey ahead of you, 10 days at walking pace. You'd be nearly half a month gone on Akras's End and they might start to think you're already dead and write the planet off.

And not to mention that you will have to think about food too, 10 days of ration for a whole squad is a lot of stuff after all. And it will suck incredibly hard to run out of toilet paper in this frozen hellhole, for obvious reasons.

Everyone's helmet briefly deafens the outside sound, leaving Kaito and anyone near him with just the quiet whirring and whines of their suits as the advanced space-grade gyroscope struggles against the recoil of the Gauss, the snow on the boulder that Kaito rests his Gauss on was blown away by the shockwave of a Tungsten stake suddenly achieving Mach 4, blowing clean through sound barriers and leaving behind a visible, expanding circular trail of clearness as the snow was blown away from the pressure.

Boiy definitely feel something from the Orb with his third eye alright, but it's going to need more than just a couple of day's studies to make sense of it.

You know for sure that this is certainly some sort of an Artifact and not some Alien's poor grandma's remains in a vase or something like that at least.

Ammo looks good, you spent some good MAG Magazines shooting the Octopus but you've still got plenty left, and there's still crates of ammo back at the snowmobile to replenish your stock anyway.

The Giant Octopus itself isn't exactly an Earth Giant Octopus, so you can't really tell if it's normal or not that it does not seems to have eyes. Or at least you don't see an eye anywhere on it, for all you know it could sense things by radiation, it is an alien after all.

But all in all everyone got out from the water safely enough after careful combing of the underwater area showing no other passage to anywhere else. And with the entirety of the ruins explored, it seems like your work here is done. Anything else now is just bonus money.

It certainly is large, though you suppose the mythical Kraken would be larger than this. Still! it could probably sink a boat? how did one even get in there you have no idea, it's probably been growing in there for some time but with no other life in there, for all you know it probably have been growing by eating alien plankton or something.

Either way, the underwater exploration went swimmingly. The bottom of the water was found without too much problem, and following the signal of the castle, Tina would find what looks to be a solid, perfect sphere of Diamond with some sort of a large beast's eye inside of it, as if preserved in amber. The sphere itself is about the size of a basketball.

Vigil phlops back down on the floor where the floor is the ground and not the ceiling, everything is finally right and well in the world. The giant tentacle octopus monster was dead, and it's treasures are presumably waiting to be yours. So far so good, one might even call this a mission success already. Now you just need to grab the artifact then get back through the gate and get paid an absurd amount of money each.

Vigil slices off another tentacle, blood was spurting everywhere, the writhing tentacle mass getting torn into and shredded, it finally shudders and drops. Whichever tentacle still up top falling lifelessly on the floor, and you see the large mass of what looked like a very big octopus floating up onto the surface, unmoving.

It's all finally quiet after all the shooting have died down, nothing but what you think is some sort of bird echoing distantly in the forest, calling out disturbingly.
