Seeing that their weapons are doing shit-all at this range, the Defenders began jumping over the walls and running for the drone. And while they're faster than the Drone is, they're not armed to the teeth like your little killerbot.

Ahh.. the joy of modern combat. Where you sit in a comfy chair and murder people using a controlled drone doing the fighting for you. If the car had some movie flashdrives you could probably plug it in and let the rest of the squad chill and watch some Classics or Comedy meanwhile.

After all, how could one stay frightened in a battlefield if it feel so boring?

Everyone gets a temporary boost in will defense.

"That doesn't sound very glorious, but the safety it provides and a good chance of success isn't something to argue with." Maximus commented.

The lone drone bravely walks towards into range, shrugging off what lucky bullets managed to hit it's hull.

You realize that it feel almost as if playing a video game when you manually control the drone like this, the crosshair definitely help your aim as you make the drone fire it's main gun, whittling away at the defense while you're sitting comfortably just beyond the enemy's attacking range.

You can join up as soonest as the squad returns through the gate. Being upped to veteran squad means increased Max member count.  :D

"Alright." Jenny climbs down from the roof and back into the safety of the Vehicle before pulling her mask over her.

The team was able to quickly unload one of the drones and activate it, you can set it to do a task automatically or manually control it via your computer.

The guys in the medical car also get their masks on, better be extra careful after all. Plus even if it's nothing demonic, blackpowder smoke is still not healthy for the lung when inhaled in large quantities anyway.

You're hearing the unmistakable rattling sounds of gunfire coming from the fort now, though. And they still can't seems to aim for shit, you think you saw some dirt kicking up some distance away, and there was a lucky ping when a bullet ricocheted from the ground and then off of the deployed drone's armor.

"I hope they don't know how to reload." Jenny said hopefully.

"On the bright side, the other guys would probably have had better aim than these monsters. Not that it helped them." Maximus noted morbidly.

Aria's third spike smashes into the Behemoth's body, sending it skidding along the ground a little from the force and rolled slightly before it settles down, from how mangled the body is, you doubt anything could've survived that. It feel almost like a let-down for a Denizen. Maybe it's one of those semi-Denizens? Who knows?

That doesn't matter right now, though.

Jenny climbs ontop of the Vehicle to settle down her rifle on it's bipod and began to line up her shots. "Not a problem." She replied.

Then the battlements erupted as the blade arms there fired their volley, their built-in literal firearms belching thick smoke that lazily drifts along with the wind. Momentary obscuring the line of sight.

Nobody seems to be hit by anything at all, there weren't even tell-tale signs of bullet pinging off armor or kicking up dirt. For all you know, they just shot blanks filled with smoke or something.

"Mediocre." Maximus commented.

Captain common sense saves the day again! :D

It's so good having someone who can do 10+ Int on the team. I could only imagine how frustrating and lethal the game would be otherwise.

The vehicles rumbled backwards away from the thrown projectile, but turns out it was not needed as the Monster's rage were scarier than it's bite. Or in this case, muscle power. Perhaps it was because one of it's arm is mangled, or perhaps it's just because of the drag, but the Truck fell short at about an incredible distance of 100 yards before it crunches back down into the hard dusty ground and turns into scrap metal.

The beast makes a frenzied charge straight towards your group, only to be stopped as Aria's second Gauss stake punches into it's center mass at where it's armor's the thickest. But when one's weapon was designed to penetrate modern Tanks, not even unreasonably thick metal plate armor is going to be of much help. The force was actually enough to throw it off it's feet and onto it's back, but there was no explosion of gore. You're unsure if that kills it or not..

Although your Drones are picking up some activities from the Castle as well, with what appears to be a variant of the blade arms climbing out of the wrecked house's wall and lining the castle's star battlement facing your way, their 'blade' looks suspiciously thin for a sword and you have a dreaded feeling that it may be a projectile weapon.

When some of them picked up the fallen weapons left behind by the dead opposing agents, it is possible that you're going to have a bad time.

Looks great! Finally a dedicated doctor. You'll be able to join the squad one they returned, if they returned.

Doctor Jonathan Cross MD.

The plan sounded solid, and everyone was ready for that. Your vehicles rides up as closest as you're willing to risk it while ensuring that it'll be close enough for the Gauss to hit with little difficulty, which brings to about 400 yards. With the scope that comes with the Gauss, that should be an easy enough shot.

Your Cars parked, it's manned .50 cals turn towards the hulking monster that seems to have noticed you..
The door popped, Gauss raised and aimed, then with a gentle squeeze on the trigger, the Gauss's Spike launched with a kick. It's deafening crack weren't so much of the actual shooting itself and more of the several sound barriers being broken immediately the moment it leaves the barrel, kicking back shock waves that blew away dusts not unlike when a tank fires it's main cannon. The gun's internal recoil dampeners are the only thing keeping your shoulder still attached to your body, even though you're definitely going to feel that tomorrow.

At the speed the Spike was travelling, 400 yards was less than a blink of an eye, the tip enters one of the Monster's arm, going through it's armor like hot knife through butter, a fraction of a second later, it came out the other side and kept going... another fraction of a heartbeat later, the entry point collapses from the sheer force that followed, crunching metal, flesh and bone, the shock continued until it hits the back end and for the smallest of moments, the back armor bulged..

Then the exit wound explodes outwards in a shower of metal, gore and bits of shattered bones, leaving that arm still barely attached to the body with what mangled flesh there was.

The spike that kept going hits one of the bunkers that just minding it's own business doing nothing and a piece of it explodes outwards as well from the force, you think that maybe the Stake's still going...

The Hulking Behemoth roared out a deafening roar of furious rage and blinding pain before it grabs the parked truck with it's three remaining arms, lifting it up with no difficulty at all and throw it towards your vehicles!

I think we've still got space for one more, and we don't have a PC Medic yet I think.

Waterbears are awesome. Have you ever seen that animation 'Captain Tardigrade'? The guy's practically invincible.

Granted. You've got the motivation to do creative things.

And they sucked because you don't have the skills for it.

I wish for World War 3.

While hitting a large vehicle-sized person sounds simple enough on paper, actually doing so from ontop of a moving vehicle at the range where all you can see is a slightly large dot if you squint really hard is anything but.

Your vehicles have came up to 800 yards out from the target, well within the effective range of high-powered rifles with precision scopes and rangefinders, but the lack of a powerful enough scope on your Gauss will make this a tricky shot.

And while your stake could theoretically break the sound barrier going at Mach 3, it's bound to slow down at some point and lose it's armor piercing effectiveness at long range like this.

Of course you can just rocket it if you want, shoot it with the Semi-automatic anti-material rifle or drive closer to really unleash hell.

WDYD?

If a L4D Tank is armored like an actual tank and have 4 arms?
Then you're getting close. :P
