I'm afraid sir that you did not make the listings. I may update them though as some players seem to be mia and it'd be nice to have a full 10.

I'm not sure I understand the need to have a limit.

The wiki page on world parameter generation hasn't been updated, but the previous version page on it is pretty useful.

splinterz version issue report

Adventure Trait is glitched. For the raw skill value, some dwarves have negative numbers. Others have normal in range numbers. Incorrect memory offset?
Vampire Names are mismatched. The dwarf alias that the vampire is using doesn't show up in DT. I think DT is using his real name?
Failure to pick up tools. This was reported earlier by someone else. In the early days of my fort I assigned miners, but had no pickaxes. Later on I made pickaxes, but the dwarves assigned to the mining task (via DT) didn't go and pick them up. Unassigning them in DF and reassigning them in DF made them go get pickaxes. Unassigning them in DT and reassigning them in DT did not. Although I didn't check what would happen if I waited a while before reassignment.
Nonexisting dwarves: DT reports more dwarves than I have. Possibly due to kidnapping?
Migrant wave ordering: My dwarves no longer show up in the correct Migrant waves. Possibly because some are historical figures? I don't know.

Feature Requests
With today's new dwarven lifestyle 33% of the dwarves in my fort are babies & children. Can you make the dwarf count in DF report Adults/Babies/Children?

I've found that using Dwarf Therapist to clear my migrant waves as they come in as being very helpful. Not by automatically identifying the vampire, but by helping me keep track of who is not a vampire. The method is quite simple. Vampires do not sleep or drink alcohol. So (until Toady changes that), every now and then pause the game and switch over to DT. Sort dwarves by current task. Scroll down until you get to the dwarves who are drinking and sleeping. Assign those dwarves to a rarely/never used task (Alchemy, Animal Dissection, trapping, whatever). After a few weeks you should manage to catch every normal dwarf in the act of sleeping or drinking. Any dwarf that fails to eat or drink deserves special attention. f you keep up on this on a regular basis after every new migrant wave, you should be able to spot any vampires before they manage to strike. Obviously you'll want to disable whichever skill you are using to keep track of this on new migrants as they arrive.

I've also found that enabling all doctor tasks (since the only benefit of an increased doctor skill is faster performance) on all dwarves allows me to separate new migrants from old dwarves. At least until they get the bugs worked out on migration wave ordering.

  • Alphabetically by Name (first, last, whatever), example: Urist is at the bottom of the order, Aavrist is at the top of  order
  • Ranked by Racial Traits (Pick one of the 30), example: By Cooperation a dwarf would never deny (his) own needs just to compromise with somebody else is a the top of the order, a dwarf who sacrifices (his) own needs to get along with others  is at the bottom of the order
  • By Favorite Animal/Food/Mineral/Metal/Drink, example: A dwarf who likes cave crocodiles is at the top of the order, a dwarf who likes kittens is at the bottom of the order.
  • By flight distance or height. Immigrants (and children) are launched via bridgeapult into a target system by arranged either across the x/y or z axis. Dwarves can be ranked by: Nearest to the bullseye, highest vertical distance traveled, longest distance propelled. Dwarves may choose to reapply for a new ranking with all of the risks involved.
  • By drop training. Dwarves are dropped via drawbridge down X z-levels, with either only 1 bottom or a series of alternating "catching" bridges. Dwarves can be ranked by: distance traveled, soonest to leave the hospital after after sorting.
  • Lady of the Lake Style: All dwarves are assigned to the military and left to select their own weapons of choice. Dwarves are then sorted by the quality and type of weapon selected
  • By bedroom selection: Create a series of identical beds equidistant from the level staircase/ramp. When a dwarf picks one of the bedrooms, he is assigned to the matching caste. The bedrooms are then unassigned to process the next batch of dwarves.
  • Crafting test. Have each dwarf craft one statue. The subject of the statue is used to rank the dwarves.
  • By Age
  • By number of children
  • By number of pets

Finder is unreliable for Flux, both in reporting its absence and presence. While it isn't a self-contained solution, you can use DFHack to prospect your embark and find out exactly what you have.

As promised the answers.

If you still wanted to take the quiz, feel free to do so, then self-grade and post. I'm curious about how DFers think based upon experience and playing style.

Schizotek - Sadly the fort has nearly no tools, nor has there been any mead production. The high tool count comes from a misclassified item.

It's a bug that has been happening with the 2012 release. It might be related to the migration issues (ghosts, necros, etc). Some have reported that these traders eventually join caravans, others have stated they just hang out until they are killed.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Fort Review & Quiz: BirdsSalves

The Fort Review threads have always been good fun, but I've never been really good at them because I can't read the default tileset in DF very well (DFMA is also a bit of a lost cause for me). Given that there are many out there that do use tilesets (especially given the ease of accessibility with the Lazy Newb Pack) I'm putting together a Fort Review thread using a tileset, as well as having some extra features and quiz questions. Hopefully we'll all have a rollicking good time. If you don't want to do the quiz, but do want to make some comments/observations, feel free to do so.

Update: By popular (100% of the commenting audience) request, I've also posted default graphic images for your viewing pleasure. These images are located further down in the thread.

This post is going to broken up into:
Background Information on the Fort - A variety of nonpictorial information that should provide some context.
Images of the Fort - A series of z-level images capturing the interesting parts of the fort.
Quiz Questions - A try your luck series of questions to evaluate your dwarfiness. Socks of various degrees of quality are available for participants. The questions have a wide range of difficulty, some are obvious, some are straightforward if you catch the relevant clues in the information provided, some will require hunches based upon your years and DF knowledge and subtle clues hidden in the information, and some will require pure dwarven psychic powers to guess correctly. I'll score each quiz and announce the results every now and then. Complete answers to the quiz will be given in a few days once everyone who is interested gets a chance to take the quiz without being tempted to cheat.

I hope you enjoy it, so let's begin.

I present to you the Fort:
