DF Bug Reports / Perpetually Rising Brook
« on: March 29, 2008, 05:06:00 pm »
I started a new fortress in an area with a brook waterfall.  A few months later I look at the brook again and notice that near the base of the waterfall some of the brook squares have been covered up by water.  Now not even a full year has elapsed, and the entire level of brook tiles has been covered up.  At this rate, the entire map will be flooded in about 20 years.  Now my fortress is probably not going to last that long, but its still a troublesome prospect.

DF Bug Reports / Wording Consistancy
« on: June 03, 2008, 09:34:00 pm »
A smoothed  floor of most stone is called a "Smooth Floor" i.e. "Smooth Slate Floor," but if its a colored stone its simply called a "Floor" i.e. "Orthoclase Floor."  I can't think of a particularly good reason for this, it just seems like an oversight.

EDIT: Further investigation reveals this to be a conflict between stone that occurs in layers and stone that occurs as clusters within the layers (ores and jems too).  I still can't think of a particularly good reason for it though.

DF Bug Reports / Strange Decorations
« on: January 18, 2008, 06:10:00 pm »

Speaks for itself.  I remember in 33a you could buy soil blocks.  This seems similar only with other civs being able to decorate with soil/

DF Bug Reports / Weird Pathing Bug
« on: November 02, 2007, 07:32:00 pm »
I started a new fortress using the most recent version and I dig a farm room out next to a pond.  Then I open up the pond and flood the room.  I send my farmer down to build a plot.  When the plot is built it destroys the upwards stair case.  I think, "no big deal, I'll just make another one."  Unfortunately, it seems that none of the tiles around the area can be mined out.  Here's an example:

I've been trying to mine out the circled tile, but when I designate it it gives me the message: Miner cancels Dig: Could not find path.  I'll upload a save file if you think it would help.

DF Bug Reports / 33d- incomplete well generates drink jobs.
« on: December 04, 2007, 07:47:00 pm »
Just as the topic says, the wells I'm trying to build to stop my dwarves from being eaten by the fishies(at least until I can sort out my barrel shortage crisis) keep generating cancellation spam.

Dwarfname cancels Drink: No bucket at well. x1000

I'm aware that a similar bug has been filed:

quote:
000483 □ [dwarf mode][jobs][building construction and destruction]    well builder stops and tries to drink from the well before the building is complete

But for me its not just dwarves who are building the well, its all the dwarves.

DF Suggestions / Link to Lever Menu use New Interface.
« on: June 01, 2008, 12:29:00 am »
So when the 3D version came out we had this new interface for choosing items for buildings.  It lists the items by type and sorts by closest.  I noticed just now that the mechanism choosing part of the link item to lever uses the old interface where it lists every mechanism in your fortress starting with the first one made.  It would be really nice if that was switched over to the new interface.

DF Suggestions / [Mac] Are you sure you want to quit?
« on: April 06, 2008, 02:53:00 am »
It would be nice to have a confirmation when I try to quit out of dwarf fortress.  Seriously the number of times I've hit "apple + q" accidentally while mucking around with the keyboard commands is getting a little ridiculous.

DF Suggestions / Wood Blocks

because it doesn't make sense for me to dig up half the map looking for stone to build a screw pump with.
